somehow I don't think VWboy has any experience with Ghia's. Considering they have the filters in oil and are air cooled engines that only put out something like 1600cc.

Somethin' like that.

If you've got a wheeling rig already, Why not grab a Ghia? Depends on what you're going for. For $5000 you can get one that's running and in good shape if you shop around a bit. Careful of the assholes that try to sell them for much more than they're worth. Personally, I'd be thinking of a convertible, but that's just me. Would update the wheels a bit to a 5-spoke or similar, as I think it looks better. Turbo-charge the engine... put some other little modern conveniences in it. Make it purdy.

fun car to drive, I owned a couple in my younger days.....

If you are a big person, you will not like the room. Pedals are close together, very hard to drive if you have big feet.


30 mpg is not unheard of though.

never heard of a karmann ghia. what is it??? if you can't eat it or wheel it, then i wouldn't trade the jeep for it.

The drop tops look BA with the tops taken out. With the tops down they look like trash.

I've seen a few builds where owners with also just chop off the roof, and some times put in the convertible windshield

 

A grill all the way across the front would look nice as well.
