^^^^ He does make some serious cash just being a show boater. My issue is that I have never seen serious proof that diesel emissions work in entirety.
Yeah, I mean, parse the things out right.

Should regulations be so stringent, is it the role of government, are they over reaching, what is the benefit vs the cost, etc etc etc... A conversation to have.

This particular twat made millions off rolling coal and acting the fool and literally being the meme, lost a lawsuit, failed to pay up, flaunted all of it... Can't muster up any sympathy for him personally.

Some small business guy deleting his Freightliner that already has half a million miles on it because it's all failing and that's all the truck he can afford... That guy, I can defend.

One of my good friends was doing tuning and calibration work for new diesel platforms at Bosch up until a couple years ago. Modern diesel emissions systems are VERY effective. So much so that in many cases in urban environments, the tailpipe emissions are actually cleaner than the ambient air that the engine draws in. They're literally cleaning the air we breath. Problem is, they do so at the expense of vehicle cost, fuel mileage, and long term reliability. Emissions requirements on diesels were accelerated at an unreasonable pace to a more unreasonable target, forcing the OEMs to adopt new technology that had not been fully validated and dialed in for dependability.
I was really frustrated for 2 years with my Duramax... but I think most of my issues were GM cheaping out on 1" of wire on sensor pigtails. I was ending up in limp mode all the time. Finally an independent mechanic did a fuel pressure sensor pigtail, and the sensor and it finally fixed it. The injector pigtails have the same issue.

My Def pump went out at 127k too... about $1500 to fix it. I hate the system, and I think it is really wasteful as far as the jugs, and the def itself, and the extra diesel it burns but it works. It's not totally a DD so we fill the Def about twice a year. When I tow heavy it's a lot more. We didn't travel with the camper or jeep this year so I just did a second fill.

I've been tempted to remove it and pick up the extra reliability and MPG's, but I plan to keep it a long time, and I am not so sure that federal level emissions checks, or even Michigan state level checks won't happen in the future. I also like my local dealer for most things, and they won't touch it once you remove it. I would love to hear the turbo though lol.

He and one of the other shows really started the whole rolling coal trend, and I hate them for it. They brought enough negative attention to motorsports emissions they screwed us all.

Exactly, I have no sympathy for his "persecution" when he made literally millions from Diesel Power Products and flaunting the fact that he was violating Federal Law.

Dude fits the definition of no chill. Everyone knew about "offroad use only" with a wink and a nod, and along comes this douchenozzle blacking out the sky in front of millions of viewers, and now a guy with 200k on his truck can't delete it because the emissions are past their usable life, and it's all this assholes fault.
