The Jeep is looking good! Did you fix the floor pans?
Yep! It ain't pretty, but it's a jeep.

Getting some bearing noise in the parking lot, but cruising down the highway at 75-80 without needing to hold the steering wheel.

Tearing the rear axle down for axle bearings, hoping it ends there.

dimpled the hood for some heat expulsionand started on front bumper.
Had the wj sway bar on it but had clearance issues. Put an xj bar back on, but need extended sway bar links.

havent gotten to the rear axle bearings, seems to have been mostly a brake noise. Rear locker was binding up pretty good in reverse until first click but that seems to have cleared up.
Got some stuff to do yet before long trip to the cabin with it in a couple weeks

What size dimpler did you use? Does it affect the paint or., in that area? Is it pretty straight forward? Thanks

I want to put some in mine. I plan on doing some near my air intake (passenger side behind the radiator) and will probably copy you also.

whatever the largest size swag die they supply in the pipe dimple kit. Modified the harbor freight pipe knockout hydraulics to accept my power pack i have for the jd2 bender. never looking back there.

the paint didnt crack at all on herman, but that was all done manually. Maybe my hydraulics did it too fast. The white paint is more britte, or maybe it was warmer out. The white did crack and chip way worse. That would be why i tapes off and did some enamel black on it to cover it up. Definitely a 10’ paint job. Not built to be a show stopper

I like the front bumper. Tucked in nicely, not over the top.

got a pair of these amber light bars to tuck in the center. Might plate off the outsides. A little apprehensive about the cheap led headlights not working, wanted something as a backup, and wanted to try some ambers.
Going to add a threaded insert or a tab to the hoop for a flag mount.

Did about 800 miles over a long weekend up at my cabin with a few good frienda. Nothing extreme, but some very taxing runs, both pavement and relatively high speed on dirt.

had a loose track bar bolt at one point which resulted in a broken bolt. Looking into options for an upgrade there.

only other concern was how hot the trans tunnel was getting over long drives, got a few things to check out.

Upgraded track bar with a beefier one and got me up to a 12mm track bar bolt to upgrade from the stock 10mm. Getting the old track bar out was a royal bastard though, as the castle nut was rotten enough to not allow a good bite with a socket. Ended up plasma cutting it out and putting enough pressure on it with a pickle fork to get it to pop while hot. Might still look at upgrading to a double shear style in the future.

Fixed the lean in the seat, added some more steel to help brace it up. Would like to upgrade those seats eventually. Exhaust was rotting and falling apart, so cut from the cat out and ordered a new tailpipe. Thought the muffler I had lying around was going to work, but needed a centered in and out version. Have a flowmaster super 44 coming saturday.

Replaced the filler boots because I found them leaking at full tank. And found the tank straps were a bit loose.

Got one side of the JCR frame stiffener installed and the other side prepped.

Rattle bombed a can of the rustoleum undercoating pro grade over everything. Going to spin the jeep around saturday morning to install the other side, get the exhaust welded in, and then upgrade the wiring.

Then onto the cooling system and hopefully fixing that leak that seems to be from the freeze plug behind the flexplate.

had some runaround with the dreaded no bus issue after installing overhead console and upgrading the underhood power and ground wires. Problem resolved itself unplugging the security and trip computer. Trying to find some circuit diagrams to troubleshoot.

pulled front bumper to finish up welding and painted it hammeredgrey to match the rear.

got a little bit to tie up on the headliner, then onto the coolant system.

making a 2 gauge pod to install on the transmission bezel. Adding trans temp and fuel pressure gauges. Not 100% if I’ll bring to market or not

Got some fresh hardware to bolt the lights back up. pretty content with how it turned out.

Tore into the cooling system and ordered a few more parts. Those came in today to button the front up.

oof, just ordered a new slip yoke eliminator for the xj. JB conversions for the win though. then off to pulling trans and tcase to get to the back of the engine to fix that leaky freeze plug behind the flexplate. Grabbed a shift kit and new filter for the trans, hoping nothing looks too out of place there. hoping the tcase doesn't need a rebuild other than the SYE and sealed back up.
