Got the rear sound deadening all installed, nut serts where old d rings were.
Got an idea for the rear. Since most of the carpet is shot, i think I’m going to cut the wheel well panels out of the carpet since those didnt seem bad. Picking up a cargo mat for a truck bed, then make a cardboard pattern for and then bolt down with those nut sert locations. did not like my options, nor did i wamt to pay for carpet replacement that i was definitely going to just wreck.

Lookin good.

Not sure if a worthy idea or not. Subarus often have a nice rubber matt in the back. Probably laying all over the place in junk yards?

Picked up an amazon generic brand bed mat. Was meant for a 19+ ram, $35 was cheap enough to be worth a shot. Cut a little too easy, we’ll see how it holds up. I’m guessing it will be there a long time.
Will swap out bolts to panhead, but wanted torx and not phillips, so just grabbed some stainless hex bolts and fender washers for the time being. Was hoping to find a swiveling d ring that is through mounted for a 1/4” bolt. No luck so far.
cut the fabric wheel wells out and tossed the floor piece in the trash

tearing into the front interior. Have a patch needed and going to continue adding sound deadener. Think this carpet is going to come out shot, so not sure on route there yet.

Passrnger floor worse than i thought, but rest was as good or better than i thought. Currently waiting for the rust remover to dry so i can start sound deadening the good sections. Might dive in to the rust repair tonight, but I’m not holding my breath

Still plugging along. Had to flex it out. Keeping it out of garage for a bit to get rear axle prepped and get the rear bumper modded and painted. couldn’t resist a little yard flexing

Looks like you have everything ready to go.

What is going in? 8.8 and hp30? 4.1 gears?

I picked up a lp30 from a TJ with 4.10s for $200 with the LCAs. Should be .75" longer which should help clear the footwells a bit with the 33s.
Then an 8.8 with 4.10s for $100. Little disappointed with that deal because there was some miscommunication on the sellers part that it was a disc brake axle. No worries, gives me an excuse to swap to fusion electric parking brake calipers (which I ran out and grabbed today from the junkyard). Put on a yukon diff cover since the OE was roached, and added a spartan locker.

Lubelockers on both :D

Left the front open for the time being. If I decide i need lockers, I'll build up the HP30 out of the 96 xj in the driveway and swap that in.

Front end is all done. Buddy helped me tear down the rear today. Ended up snapping the shackle in half on one side, then the other one froze in the bushing so had to cut that bolt. I told him that the shock bolts will likely snap off, and he didn't believe me... until he broke every one hahahahaha. I should have bet money on it.

Ordered more parts, hopefully doesn't hold me up too bad. Didn't want to buy those parts if I didn't have to.

Going to take advantage of the brief relief in temperature and get some welding done tomorrow, maybe tuesday too while I'm waiting on parts.

Got knocked down with what I presume is covid for the last week. just getting back to normal, still haven't gotten my voice back though. Jeep has been sitting on jackstands with the rear axle bolted in for over a week now. Just need to bolt up calipers, brake lines, bleed, and install driveshaft. Ended up deciding on about 1.5" of lift with the 33s and cut fenders and ordered up some old man emu springs for the front. Will all work just fine with the bilsteins which were designed for lifted applications. Just not quite enough clearance for the front wheel wells. If i would have kept with 32s or 31s I would have been fine. Oh well.

Hope to get that done this weekend, hoping I'm doing good enough by tomorrow morning to knock that stuff out.

Dang, hope you do not have any long term effects. Kicked my but for a few months last time.

Wheres a good place to find an 8.8, closer to Muskegon the better? Thanks

No loss of smell/taste that I'm aware of, but it does smell and taste different? Mostly sinus stuff and related, all symptoms to upper respiratory and head save general lethargy.

I'd give Sprague auto parts a call, or pull one from Lucky's on Alpine. They are everywhere. I personally wouldn't pay more than $200 for a nice one with disc brakes in good condition, $100 for your average one.

Had something two weeks ago. Cold sweats, dry heaves, all around wish I was dead.
After thirty minutes or an hour of dry heaves, I started slamming water. As fast as I could get it in, it came back up. When the wasabi green colored emesis stopped, I slept for like 12 hours. My chest hurt for a week.

Doctor said there is a bug going around and I seem to have got the worst of it he has seen.
I say I ate something more rotten than not.

Following your XJ project green eyed with jealousy.

buttoned most of it up, stuck waiting on some driveshaft part’s because I’m a bonehead and didnt check to think i grabbed a 1350 adapter from the yard… waiting on my 1310 adapter to show up, after buying a 1310/1330 u joint adapter.

ended up lifting the front 1.5 with some old man emu springs, and then .75” lift in the rear with the ford 8.8 swap to get everything more or less level. Assuming the rear springs will settle a bit.
Pulled it out of the garage in front wheel drive to work on some other stuff while i wait for that to show up.
