The wife and I cruised down to check that area out for something to do a few years ago....it was 4th of July weekend - it was a shit show out there! I would like to go back out and do some exploring another time during a non-holiday weekend though! Maybe this spring we can set something up and get together -

Never driven around those forest roads in that area before. Sounds fun!

We go mostly for the beach. No wheels or motors allowed in the wilderness dune area.
The roads are more fun with the quad than the Jeep.

The beaches are some of the best, if you want peace and quiet.
this is where I thought I was going to get to, just to see it in the winter.
Apparently that is only happening by mountain bike, with studs.

There campgrounds are without facilities. The nicest ones are on Green Road.
there is one, I believe #18, that has a killer sunset view in the summer.

It is the only place I’ve seen a Tesla tow rig

 

Now I wanna go. Never been up around the North side of Hamlin lake.

you are right about 4th of July.
I try and stay home on holidays and weekends. It is not safe outside the compound.

Same here - not sure what we were thinking, but was interesting to see the area despite the crowds.
Just goes to show how limited the public access is to "off-grid/undeveloped" areas on Lake Michigan or really anywhere in MI anymore....even in the UP our "secret" off-grid spots are getting pretty busy during the desirable times of the year. I keep going either earlier in the spring or later in the fall to avoid the people.

A few locals said Nordhouse was insane with dune buggies and such before they closed it off.
I have also heard it is the only “wilderness” area in the lower peninsula.

 

The irony of a pay to play ATM kiosk in a non-mechanized wilderness area.
The only thing worse is that they are charging people to use their own public lands.
Just my “militant public land advocate” opinion.

It's my wife's daily, on road I don't like literally one thing about it. Which is true of all Jeeps lol.

It's nice for trails and light duty wheeling.

She enjoys it, so that's what matters.

 

I volunteered to work on a project in the shop, not at my normal desk job, that runs 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, until the projects ends, (months from now) or until I can't handle it anymore. The money will be great, but I'm not sure how much this old body can handle.

As long as you have a great plan for the money, your body will do it.

The question is, will you regret it later?

 

Had a close call yesterday while on a Sunday cruise.

Guy lost a tire when ball joint failed.
He did a great job keeping it in his lane.

12 hour days gets old fast. But your mind is stronger than you think. Push through one day at a time and it will be just a routine for you. Just think of what you will do with the extra money. I worked in the film industry for 9 months 12-hour days 5 days a week. Once I got used to it which I never really did they switched from 6am to 6 pm to 6 pm to 6 am for 2 months then back again. The money was good but it was nice to get back to normal working hours. The movie set was Oz the Great and Powerful. Once you see how movies are made you never watch them the same again.

Got tired of my tooling director telling me there's no possible way to have a piece of assembly equipment push/wet out a label when it cycles.

So I printed this giant purple dildo to do it and stuck it to the machine today.
