Not when it's true. :(
Haha!! Well, I'd rather be 5 years old in the 80s watching Duck Tails, instead of Turning 40 in 6 weeks, but such is life....

If it makes you feel any better I watched both in my 40's and still was pretty happy about it.

At what point do you not give a F with your old projects? I have my old XJ that I've been DDing for a while and I've gone "cheap ass supreme" when it comes to replacing parts.

Replaced a caliper and pads when I one had glowing rotor syndrome, but kept the rotor.
Had Hella E-code H4 headlights till the reflective film inside decided to delaminate, replaced it with a sealed beam from 1992. Still got one in the drivers side.
Next step will probably be a used U-joint in the rear for the driveshaft from the stack when I rebuilt the CV's back in the 'teens.
I got a nasty clunk in the rear that sounds off if I hit a deep enough pothole, but figure I'll deal with it when the rear end goes. It needs to be rebuilt, but its not worth if when the cost would total the damn thing.

Active shooter @ MSU. Wish those poor kids were allowed to carry protection, instead of being defenseless
I'll say the same thing I discussed it at one of my last jobs. In a place like that the only time you should find out is when you fuck around. Concealed carry is a thing, and if there isn't a metal detector, then there isn't a way to stop you from bringing one in.

When VT happened, my GF who used to work as a barista was asked what would happen at my school MTU if an active shooter happened there. She shrugged and said they'd probably shoot back.

You all realize ya gotta be 21 to own a handgun and it’s a brilliant idea to arm 18 year old drunk kids, I mean what would go wrong

I believe you have to be 21 to buy one new, and an 18 year old can legally possess and own one.

Agreed. I don't CC often but the places that I feel the need the most tend to be the places it's not allowed, which I rarely go to anyway. But there have been times I looked in the grey area when making my decision.

An active shooter at MTU would get turned into swiss cheese with 30-06. It would be open season immediately. Plenty of hunting rifles in nearby houses or in vehicles that'd be ready and willing to step in. I'd bet money there are plenty of upper classmen who CC on campus too.

I agree for the most part that many college students absolutely should not have access to a firearm, but many others can and should. I can see strong cases for both sides of the arguments. Fact of the matter is that any gun free zone tends to be an easy target for people who don't care about the law in the first place.

Disarming responsible gun owners is not a solution.
For perspective, the antis want all guns. If this guy used a revolver, they will want those too.
And the same people wanting to take YOUR guns are planning on keeping theirs.

Whitmer made the cattle call. Missing were the buzzwords like assault Weapons, high capacity magazines and radical racist right.
Waiting for facts…

CNN said:
Anthony Dwayne McRae was arrested in 2019 and charged with a felony for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for possession of a loaded firearm and spent a year and a half on probation.

Around 2 a.m. ET on June 7, 2019, according to court records, a Lansing Police Department officer saw McRae sitting on the back steps of an abandoned building smoking a cigarette. The officer, who was patrolling the area after burglaries in the vicinity, asked McRae if he had any weapons, and McRae said that he did.

The officer patted McRae down and confirmed that he had a loaded semi-automatic pistol in his pants pocket, as well as another magazine for the gun in his breast pocket.

McRae admitted that he did not have a concealed pistol license, and the officer arrested him. McRae told the officer he carried the gun for his safety and was trying to obtain a concealed permit for the weapon. According to court records, the officer confirmed the gun was registered to McRae.

A lawyer for McRae initially argued that the officer lacked probable cause to search him. But in November 2019, McRae pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for possession of a loaded firearm as part of a plea agreement. McRae agreed to forfeit the gun involved in the case and was banned from owning weapons during his probation.

McRae was originally sentenced to a year of probation, but that was later extended to a year and a half. McRae was discharged from probation in May 2021, the court records show.

So he was already arrested on a felony and if he'd been convicted he'd have been a prohibited person. So our justice system already failed.

One thing I'd learned years ago is that most people that break the law and get caught... don't get caught the first time.

This guy wasn't supposed to have a gun.. how did this happen? Oh wait, he was a felon, didn't give a crap about laws. Also not a drunk 18 year old.
