My cat might be kinda old, But I would bet he can kick most other cats ass.

Update: September 2014
The cat that started this thread is not longer with us.

During the interview, three different possibilities were discussed, all of which I am capable of performing well in. It pretty much boils down to shift and whether I want hourly (union) or salary.
Sounds like you are in a great position!

We are working diligently to find work in our plant. I have been trying to find new connections and opportunities. Completely new to me with no-one to really ask where to start. Just looking up stuff online, sending emails and making phone calls.

We are a machining supplier and have been machining many types of materials at variable levels of production while always maintaining great quality since 1991. Most of our experience is in the aerospace industry but, we have done other things as well (industrial & automotive)...

I just got an email from mueller brass, they are going to have me come back in early next week for a plant tour and to discuss 'the possible positions available with my wide range of experience'. I was told at the interview they had 2 weeks of interviews scheduled.... having been on the hiring side I'm pretty sure this translates into "we better get this guy before someone else does"
This is great. You have been in the business long enough to know your stuff. hopefully they see your value and pay you more than your worth.
Things are looking in your favor:thumb:

Well, I got the job at Mueller Brass, I go next week for the physical and screening. 30 days at 40 hours and 'B' rate pay, then 4 12 hr shifts on, 4 days off and full pay. If I catch on fast, it may be quicker.

Getting fired may have been the best thing to happen, I was getting goals added to existing goals for my raise at CHS, but never got the raise. They are good at that, there are some guys on the floor that haven't had a raise for 5 years.

So now, I will have a 15 minute drive to work, and long 'weekends' every week, because of 4 days on 4 days off some of my weekends will be during the week.

It looks like you hit paydirt my friend. Don't you just love it when things seem to be going your way? and only 15 minutes from work:woot:
Just think of all the projects you can work on with 4 days off. That is the dream job.
We all need a break from life especially when it gets tough. And you have had more than your share.
kodo's to you.:thumb::usa:

Congrats!

I rarely work anywhere over two years. I've found that whatever I get up front is whatever I'm going to have forever nearly. Even promotions under pay for the position usually. I tend to just move on.

I did that for the first 20 years of my career. It helped boost pay and experience. In most cases, a company will pay more to replace you than to keep you.

Oh and Bloo................ very cool. :thumb:

I did this for years, now after 21 years in the business I have a good salary and I am happy where I'm at, so if the money stays flat, oh well.

Congrats Bloo!

I have also not stayed many places very long... although most of my moves have not been to move up. They have been to actually move. Recently I have been considering making another move but the wife is pregnant and I will have to stay here until the baby is born for insurance reasons. My current pay is "okay" but the benefits here suck and the work has become much more stressful due to them laying off 2 of the 4 people from my group in November. I am also waiting to see if I get any sort of substantial raise in April but if not, come July I will likely be seeing what else is out there.

Congrats on the baby! :woot:

Don't be stupid like a friend of mine, make sure you stay and keep your insurance so momma and baby can go for there follow up appointments after the birth.

Thanks!

That's the plan at least. She's due in June so I figure if I start looking in July sometime, I would get past the first couple follow-ups.
:thumb: Good man.
