you look at those portal axles on the series rover? i just thought it was an interesting idea, and it said where the axles come from and i have never seen anyone else use them on a project besides rock buggies. and i like his rover, the aluminum body panels offer unmatched rust resistance. only thing that comes close might be a Delorean. i don't know of any other civ. vehicles that wont rust.

So buy one then :fish:, quit jamming this B2 thread up with rover portal talk :blah: Start your own "I can't afford the portals are so cool aluminer is the bestest ever" thread!

thought it was interesting thought i'd share. sorry to waste your time. i didnt think it would bother anyone, sorry if it did. does it matter what vehicle they are mounted on? axles are axles, and ideas are ideas.

Take it to the axle tech section then, this is the dude's build thread and I'm 99.9999% sure he's not going to use portal axles, something about "cheap" and "portals" not going together:sonicjay:

Got the doubler installed

Built a new trans crossmember, doubler installed, rear driveshaft. Still need to build a front driveshaft however and fix the floor in the b2 after getting the new shifters installed.

actually it was bought from a member here which was parked in a field for awhile, its an 85 that was a 2.8L 5spd. Its another members truck here on GL, its just parked at my house. Soon to be full width with a 105" wheelbase. So whats the story behind it? We aquired it with no drivetrain, just a shell.

as you can see from the pic it doesn't appear to have the lift anymore. We are taking the body off the frame this weekend to commence the susp set-up and build.

tried the doubler out yesterday, nothing like climbing obstacles in a stick and never having to give throttle assistance while doing so. Need to make some shifter adjustments and body adjustments, the doubler hits a certain spot on my floor and make an incredible irrating noise.

At Idle with no throttle assistance and in 1st Gear, it would have kept climbing till i flipped over had i not pushed the clutch in.
