I'm on the fence with the lockouts. I may call and get those to soon.

For what it's worth, I'd just carry tools to remove the slugs if you need too. You have only need to unlock you hubs a couple times. Fix your driveshaft issue and save your money! Haha

Bring me your parts, I'll make them fit each other.

no issues with mine at snofari and I think we saw probably anywhere from 4-8 miles on the way out and back. the truck would actually go down the road pretty good if I had more psi in the tires.

I'd prefer the strength over the rare times you actually want to drive long distances on pavement. jmo

 

I bought the new Yukon lockouts from Dale. :thumb: I like being able to disconnect the front. However, I don't know how much you drive it on the street so it may not be as big of a deal.

 

Only "street" its seen so far is around Drummond. And couple hundred yards up/down road in front of my house.

However it will be plated and insured and driven around moab for a week and possibly a little in Colorado.

 

Then I would do the lockouts. I find that I have some vibration in my front driveshaft that is only going to make things worse when spinning down the road at 50.mph.

 

Lockouts aren't hardkores

I wouldn't sell the flanges. But rather install the lockouts for the times I know I'll be running 2wd for extended times.

 

good call. then carry the flanges for spares during those times and you're good to go :thumb:

unless you have the style where you can pull the slugs and re-install the caps. mine don't unfortunately.

 

My slugs have that ability.

When the Yukon lockouts fail, they lock when failed vs unlock like other lockouts.

 

I had heard this and when I installed mine I tried to figure out what makes them different. I don't see it. From a theory standpoint, they work like any other lockout where there are face teeth on 2 slugs that engage with each other. They spring to engage and cam from the rotating knob to disengage. So, what typically fails? Either the splines strip out or the face teeth shear or round off, or the spring breaks or the rotating knob quits turning.

To say that when it "fails" that it remains locked is a mystery to me. That aside, they are a simple design and have held up well.:thumb:

great driving all weekend john. what a great weekend. you should have gotten bonus points for the last event. an to bad there's no video or pic's of the night run an the tree you mowed over :teehee: that ended up on the course :sonicjay:

 

I was hoping for a little vid or pics of the night run. wanted to see how many squirrels we blinded :teehee:

 

Those super joints are a royal pita. I got one half done lol. Trying to get the cross installed with the full circle clips is nearly impossible :sonicjay:

Victory is mine. Have no idea what I did, but it is assembled :sonicjay:. Also got my cut MTR back. It was an okay repair. Def a trail spare only.

It was worth the $50 repair to attempt to save a $500+ tire.
