The 42" MTR is 10 lbs lighter then the 38.5" ltb :teehee:. Rims are a little lighter to.

 

My ltbs measured 39" in the driveway yesterday at 5psi....yours were worn :sonicjay: 7.5" bead width helps I'm sure though :teehee:

Time to build a new rear shaft and ditch the 1350 stuff.

Just got my 1410 14B yoke, 1410 tube yoke for driveshaft, just got a piece of 2" .120 tube from d and r, and went to Weller yesterday and snagged a 1410 driveshaft from a super duty for $28 :woot:. Just need to get the male slip machined down to fit the tube and ready to go.

 

Why only .120 wall?

Mine are ~.275 wall sch.40 structural pipe....they have taken some pretty severe beatings and are still straight. I think i only paid like ~40$ for enough to do two shafts.

 

Even my 1310 stuff is .120 sleeved with .136 poop pipe :teehee:

 

The yokes are make to fit .120. I think you should sleeve the inside with some 1.75dia .120 dom.

 

Or just bore thicker wall to depth. I agree that .120 (or in Beefy's case 1/8) is too thin.

On the other hand John, I thought you wanted a lightweight buggy. I'm thinking something like .060 wall.:teehee:

1/4 wall at the least and bore it to fit the yokes.

 

Its 13 bucks a foot for 1/4 wall 2 inch Dom.

 

One option is to hit up a trailer shop for scrap. I got some 3"x ~0.200" thick axle tubing for my 1410 stuff. It was a drop so it was cheeeeeep. I didn't know they made 1410 stuff for 2x0.120.

No issues after 5+ years.
