Okay the power steering pump...

I run a 96 f250 5.8L with the f250 accessory brackets. I cut the air pump off and run the ac bypass pulley. Originally my motor had the super shitty ford p/s pump.

At some point a few years ago I ordered a a1 cardone reman pump for a heavy duty mid 80s ford application. It was the normal Saginaw style canned ham pump. But had a adapter bracket on it to fit my accessory bracket. So it was a direct bolt on. As well the shaft on the pump was longer and necked down to fit the small diameter of the ford pulley.

I wanted to run a can style pump with a remote res. So I did some research and psc was contacted and I was told I needed to run their chevy pump, and their adapter bracket. But their setup would require extensive modification to my bracket and were not sure it would work.

Well I took the gamble and ordered it up.

This is the adpater my a1 cardone pump came with.

The psc adapter is very flat and thin. I found that with my adapter the pump bolted onto the bracket with no modification. However I ran into a few issues. The shaft was much shorter out of the pump and the diameter was larger then the ford pulley.

So I ordered a mid 80's chevy p/s pulley that was the correct diameter for the pump shaft. But I couldn't put it on normal as the shaft did not stick out far enough to get it pressed on enough.

So I flipped the pulley backwards, And drilled three holes in it so I could install a puller if need be to remove it later.

It all fit and works well, and the only "modifications" made were to the pulley not the bracket. This pulley is slightly larger then the ford pulley I had. I may have the ford pulley opened up to fit the shaft on the pump as its overall a smaller circumference pulley so I'll get more revolutions and lower rpms.

If I had ran the psc pump and adapter in my bracket, it probably would have worked with LOTS of clearance of the bracket. And if I had used their adapter I probably would of been able to use the p/s pulley w/o modification and would have fit normal. I like that I saved the $ on not buying the adapter, and I am glad I didn't weaken my bracket with all the clearancing that would of needed to of taken place.

Pics of pump and res. Mounted

I'm keeping a close eye on the hose connecting the res. To pump. Wasn't a real good place to mount it and the doesn't flex much. But it's on my radar.

I think it's time to get a better front driveshaft made. The carrier bearing usually last 3-4 trips. Only lasted one this go around.

Changed my plugs, cleaned the mass, changed the oil. And seasoned the top end. Seems better. Wish I had somewhere close by to straight it's legs to know for sure though. Maybe I'll run it up to the dunes next weekend and run it around before the trip to the Badlands.

I went with a thick oil this time around. Don't remember what I used last time for sure, but wasn't happy with it at all.

Got on the pieces needed for the front shaft. Just need to get some machining done and assemble it. Won't be before the weekend though.

Also figured out my running issue. Apparently either during the roll, or can king it right after my distributor moved and my timing was off. Seems to be back to normal.

Weather still looking great for Attica this weekend :woot:

I also ordered a new trailer today, they are expecting 5 weeks to complete it. 8.5x28 with extra height. Jeep wouldn't fit in my current one (2"s taller then buggy) and the Galaxie is to long. So only the buggy fits in it. Once I take delivery the old one will be up for sale.

Who did you order your trailer from?

congrats on the new trailer. glad to hear the buggy is running well too.

maybe we can find a couple spots at the badlands to open them up a little :naughty:
