Well, thought I start my post for the XJ build. You may know me and my MJ but had to get rid of her for the XJ. More room for the kids. But Not looking back for now. So the low down is I kept my 33x9.5 tires and the heart of MiNi Beast. my 8.8 410LSD disks, so thats going under the XJ replacing the 8.25, mounting the 1 1/2" UBE and 4.5 RE springs. Front is getting 6.5" springs with the RK 3 link LA set up. The XJ is 2wd, but already has 4wd conversion started less the tranny and tcase. Which I have a AX-15/231 combo waiting to go in after the lift.
So my very first Jeep...89' Wagoneer
Then my MJ, bought for $100 down in FL and drove back to MI...

Well just got in, and I got some work done tonight. Cleaned up the shop a little bit and added some insulation, :( Then I dropped the gas tank and started to cut out the floors. Go the front section done, now need to measure up so things and make sure how I'm going to raise the gas tank in the rear up into the frame and mount it on the floor. I'm thinking I'll end up doing something of this sort here and perhaps something like this for some sort of skid . Then I'll build a rack to go over it to haul gear. So that's about it of what I got done tonight. Mess with the rear some more tomorrow night. Off to bed now :moo:

holy shit roger, looks like you are going to need 2 spools of wire for the wleder now. :sonicjay:

i think they sell replacement floor pans. that would be ALOT easier than trying to get flatstock in there.

remind me next time you are over to give you them two rolls of insulation. :thumb:

#403 ·
yeah I can get pans but I think flat stock will be fine for it, I will make it work, got a hammer to make my bends. :teehee: And yes will get the insulation later this week being you got extra time off.

Well got some more done tonight. Greasyhands came over and gave me a hand for a little bit. Got Rest of the floor cut out in the rear, and the hole cut for the gas tank to be dropped in. Now just debating if I want to cut and open up the fenders or just leave them be, more stock look, being I'm running full size axles and inside of the tire will be flush with the outside of the stock fender flare, I'm thinking I may just leave it and call it a day. If not can cut it out later.

:finger: All together this is my 5th XJ and I had one MJ in there. But more or less this is my third rig. First the MJ, what really got me into it, then had kids somehow, so switched to XJ which was a great for a season the rolled it and hydroed it, now went to get into a wrangler and ended back up with this one, which rust wise was in better shape than my last XJ. the rocker are at least solid (for now). :teehee:

Sorry Freak not a big baller like you and can just buy a built rig. :sonicjay: :finger: :sonicjay:

well we'll see what ends up happening with it this week while i throw around a few more ideas of projects maybe we will fix it idk i believe it is just the one side so it might not be that bad but my rockers ar also shot so idk....dumb expensive hobbys anyways lol keep it up roger

#419 ·
well got paint and some grinder stuff to get the floors prepped for new stock. Found a sheet of stock for $45. so should be all set. Practice some welding, so I now have an understanding of what a weld is suppose to look like. So will get things prepped and get the metal next week to start redoing the floors.

#420 ·
well glad to see ya moving along got my floors done and repainted the jeep this week ready for tires and bumpers to be put back on then its out to the trails for the last year of wheeling for my ol rig.

Well got some stuff done today. Cleaned up the frame a little bit and got some paint inside the frame rails and good to go now for the metal to go in, so pick that up later this week. Then did some messing around with the rear to get an idea of how things will be set up in the back.

Old man got me a couple things for Christmas...

Set up the rear for mounting ideas, keep in mind the basket is just the idea as it will have a rack just above the gas tank and the gas tank/battery will be boxed in.
