I drove by three polling places this morning on my way to work. And all I can say is

Looks like I will have to vote around 1:30ish so I only have a three hour wait. The elementary school in Clarkston on sashabaw has the parking lot full, as well as the huge field in front of it filled to the max with people waiting to get into the parking lot. The line wrapped all the way around the building.

I just went down and checked out the line at my poling place in Kzoo. Probably 200 people in line and the polls weren't open yet! Im hoping it will slow down when everyone is working.
Even though everyone of the media outlets has been saying it will be record turn out, what do you bet there will still be the same 4 retirees and the same 6 little privacy booths as there always is?

I got there at ten to 7, and walked out at about 7:30. I was about 30th in line - very inefficient process they have going at that particular one. Instead of letting everyone fill out their voting application slip (or whatever it is) in line, they allowed about 2 through at a time to do that before you went and registered your name. There were empty polling spots the entire time I was there because they couldn't move people through fast enough. There is going to be a lot of bitching today.

just got back ourselves. 1 hour total time to wait in line and actually vote. Not too bad. The old ladies said this was the longest lines they have ever seen for a presidential election.

McCain FTW!!!!

i am stunned. drove by mine and the lot is full and they're parking in the street. There's maybe being generous 1500 people in my precinct last I saw the binder of names the old hags check people against. There was easily 500 cars in the lot and there's never that many volunteers.

I got to my station at 7:20. There was about 40 people in front of me. I got ballot 53. It took almost 50 minutes.... there were only 5 booths open. Seems l ike theymight open up a few extra booths for presidential elections. Oh well.

In line at 6:40am, done by 7:15am. No problems except for a poll worker that spelled my name wrong. I also got to meet a neighbor that I had never talked to. Ballot number 28.

My coffee was still hot on my way out.

I got there at 7 and out by 7:45. long lines but I cast my vote for freedom (mccain). there were some people there thinking that after they cast their vote the election officials would give them a check. this delayed things a bit.

Saginaw

Got to the Poll at 7:15 and left at 8.

I have never seen so many people voting at my precinct.

120th person....

Sadly the 144th ballot. I could not believe the ribbon of mistakes already made this morning by people.

Heh, as I'm reading this, John McCain just called me :teehee:.

When I took Brendan to school our polling place had a small line out the door. When I got there the line was smaller, and it took me about 20 minutes to complete the process. Was voter 253 I think? If I would have known it would only take that long I would have let Brendan go through it with me. I was afraid he would be late to school if I voted before hand.

What seemed to take so long was that all us "A-M" folk were there and only one lady to check our name off, so that line was long. The "N-Z" people filled out their slip, got their ballots and were off to vote. You think there would be a better way to do the whole registration part of it rather than one person with a ruler, high lighter, and 3 ring binder of names...

As for voting stations, there were probably about 30 available, but since it was taking so long to get your ballot only about 1/2 were being used. I voted at the Davison Eagles in Richfield Township.

I arrived about 20 minutes before the doors opened and was #148 for my precint. There was also another line at my location for another precint that votes at the same spot and their line was equally long.

Once the doors opened, I was all done by 7:33 a.m. They had many extra voting booths set up inside and the geriatrics working the station must have had their Ensure because they kept the lines moving pretty good.

This was my first presidential election where I hadn't voted via absentee ballot and was sort of amazed at how many people were there... the guy in line front of me said that this was the longest line he remembered seeing since Kennedy ran in 1960.
