He fish plated the frame where it broke. Looked fine to me. He was busy working on something when I stopped by. Not the greatest designed rig but its not as bad as you guys that have never seen it are claiming.

 

What is fish plated? Any pics of it destroyed from this weekend?

Not to keep this all going, but that truck is an out of date Pro 2 that has a 5.0 in it now I believe. I have not seen it this year but last year it had a 351 that was on the passenger side not in the front, but you should have been able to figure that out from the pics/ vid. He also has a old prolite with a 22R that's still tore up from last year. Or at least was a few weeks ago.

I really don't know Mike well but we have mutual freinds and I have been around him now and again. He seem like a alright guy, probably not wired right, but that could be said about alot of us :sonicjay:.

Maybe the jeep does work great at the track. But every vid I've seen of it, it is pulling the front wheels super high and torque steering all over the place. Neither trait is good for control either for recreation or at the track. It's only good for showing off. Isn't the snow drag a "controlled track"?

When is the last time you have seen a Nascar car out doing stupid stuff on the highway? Maybe............ never???? You cannot use Nascar as an analogy. They are professional teams pushing the limit for PROFIT and they also have to follow a very strict set of guidelines. They have millions of $$$ on the line. This guy only has his weekend warrior budget and his ego on the line.

There is no no doubt that well built cars have gone wild at the dragstip. I would guess in every case, the owner/drivers have said WTF did we do wrong and how can we fix it? Not go out and do it repeatedly just to show off.

It's for the crowd. You see those videos because the crowds love to see that stuff. You don't see all the "boring" passes at the track, because it's a straight clean pass. People want to see "action"

So he drives like a women on propose? He is using "im doing it for the crowd" to cover his poor driving skills/ bad chassis set up. Please give me a break. Who the fuck does that guy think he is, Liberachi? Playing for the crowd, ha! I need to get my boots.... And believe it or not I've been part of crowd before. Not once did I hear anyone say, "I wish we could see someone drive out of control"

I'm guessing it absorbed a lot of the impact. I stopped and talked to him for a minute on Saturday but he was working on it and didn't stay long. I didn't get a chance to look inside but I'm guessing its got a good seat setup.

 

talked with him yesterday the truck looks like a pile of shit un painted rusty looking, but is built top notch the rear of that truck was designed to do just what it did. had it not broke he most likely would have went ass over apple carts down the rest of the hill.

 

Really? He ran that chassis design through simulations to get a crumple zone out of it? That's very interesting. I wonder who he was running his simulations or is he doing it himself? I'm guessing he told people it was supposed to do that to make the truck sound more official. Very classy move in my book. BTW did you know Al Gore invented the Internet?

im curious why everything mike has done is wrong? whats wrong with fish plating the frame? why does the cage work seem like its from the 80's? the cage was overbuillt for what he is using it for so he cut up the cage and rewelded it to lighten it up, but still keep strength where it needs to be. in all seriousness go up to the dunes and stop mike and talk to him about it. might just change all your minds.

 

Probably not,........... He was out of control in that video, with to many people around. He didn't do anybody any service by showing his ego. Far too dangerous to be doing that type of jumping at the dunes.

Like I said earlier, had he done this off hours with safety barriers and equipment, I would have been okay with it. He risked not only his health and welfare, but all of those spectating. He didn't have proper control of the truck, otherwise he would not have aired with his nose up like that.

All I saw in that video was ego, and ammunition to shut the dunes down.

I'm not against jumping, in fact I'm very proud of the photo that I have of you in the blue truck, this guy however needs an adjustment.
