After a tight near 50/50 vote between the 99-02 Cummins and 01-03 Duramax, I decided to go with the Duramax.

Reason for choices the Duramax:
1. Interior
2. Allison Auto Transmission
3. Nicer body style (personal preference)
4. Quiter Diesel

I picked up an 01' GMC Sierra 2500 from a dealer near Grand Rapids. The truck is fully loaded and has 179k on it. I purchased the truck for $13k, about 2k below Kbb private party value. Drives great, runs great, appears to be previously owned by an older man.

If you need a gooseneck style hitch for it, this is the winner by far. It is what I have in the Dodge. The beauty is no rails in the bed, is fairly simple to install, and is extremely simple to flip the ball over and have a full bed with no obstructions.

Add a set of the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags on the back. You will appreciate the comfier ride while towing and the ability to level the truck/trailer.

Nice looking truck. Hope it lives another 300k miles for you.

well, i dont feel so bad now.....I still need to get the back ones thought....

The new hemi will do fine for everything i need todo......What i should have said was "should have bought a cummins"

Accualy, i could have bought a 03 duramax with 115000 and it was loaded. (GMC) long bed four door 4x4....ect ect ect....it was sweet. He was going to let me have it for his payoff. I think it was like 13k....I kinda wish i would have bought it. Oh well, at the time i didnt know what i wanted todo and i only had like a week top act on it. I like my dodge though and it had alot of power for a half ton....I still have yet to tow with it though.

Anyways, nice truck....Ill let you know if i need you to tow my hemi lol

Looks like a good truck. I had a 02 for a brief time before I bought my 07. They are great trucks and the engine and trans are very reliable. Just one piece of advice, before you drive and tow alot check the transfer case fluid. I've had alot of them with no oil left in them just like my 2002. The cause is a small hole in the transfer case on the right side of the case. I just warn about this because I have seen them with this problem many times. My 02 chevy only had 120,000 miles and a friends only had 110,000 miles when the hole appeared in the case. Also see it too often working in a chevy dealer. If it is ok I recommend synthetic atf in the transfer case.
