What kind of questions did you have?

 

I've installed a number of Zips/ARB's, never really had an issue. I get the shimming right by making it as tight as I can going in and out, then add at least .003" (sometimes as much as .005") shim on each side before putting it in to preload the bearings. I don't have a case spreader. I've never had any problems.

 

It seems walking away for a day or two does wonders! I think I've got it figured out.

 

Sometimes that's what it takes, just clear your head and look at it another way. Hopefully the rest of the job went smooth!

 

Well I finally got the diff all set up, my pattern looks good, my back lash is good at the low end of the spec. All seemed to be going good until I installed the axle shafts to test out the air locker. It feels like something is completely fucked with the spider gears inside the locker. With the locker disengaged It feel very chunky when I try to rotate the shafts one direction and then it binds when I turn it the opposite direction. When I actuate the locker it locks up fine and I can turn the R&P and both shaft and everything is smooth. All my issues seem to be inside the locker itself. I'll be calling Yukon as soon as they open tomorrow!

I tell you, with this issue along with the fact that I had to run a tap through all of the ring gear bolt holes because the were all rough and boogered up, certainly is not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling about the whole Yukon brand! Hopefully the install on the rear Dana 44 goes better!

 

I installed zips in my 30 and 44. 30 went easy, 44 was my nightmare. Can't tell you how many times that sob was in/out to get a good pattern.

Mine had a ding right where the air seal was right out of the box.
