One of the negatives for me is the exact opposite. The TYM dealer is further away. We considered the Rural King version but the quality looked a little lower and I wasn't comfortable with the service department running out of a shopping mall type of store. I got a quote on the TYM and it was attractive.

I think all of them overall make good products, matching up the best fit to your needs and conveniences is a large part in the selection process. With any luck you will never need the dealer again after the sale, but if you do it is nice to have them close.

Agreed with Bob on the dealer thing. That is the one draw-back on my Ford 2120 (New Holland) - got a smokin-deal on it from a landscaper, but I have to drive from Parma to Hudson to get parts/help. Grant it, the guys at Burnips have been very helpful when I've went there for big-ticket items, but dang- it's a half a day to go there and back.

Only thing local dealer to me is JD and Kioti.

I believe the LS brand is good quality, for a store that I have high respect for up by my cabin, sells LS tractors. The store's owners have a history of researching anything they sell very thoroughly before they stock it. At one time they were the highest volume Husqvarna and Sthil dealer in the state.

From what I understand the smaller new holland tractors are made by LS, and some of the LS models are almost identical to New Holland models.

I believe you are correct on the LS made smaller models of New Holland. And yes, I believe that everything 20 HP to 60 HP are made in Korea, China or Japan. Mine is actually a 1991 model year and 48 HP - the 4cyl Shibaura engine. Built in China and original designed for rice paddy farming. I guess that might be why all the replacement parts cost almost as much as solid gold bars.

I just insured the same tractor with AAA. I think it was $300 for 6 months.

AAA just shit canned all their agents. I've used the same guy for over 30 years and they gave him a 2 week notice that he was being let go. All loyalty to them is gone. Gonna start shopping after the first of the year.

I use Safeco/Liberty Mutual. Mine is insured through homeowners but is still covered for travel and offsite work. I've been with this company for over 6 years and have nothing but good things to say about them, even after numerous auto claims and unexpected issues.

Mine is like 360 bucks a year through Kubota. Covers everything from towing to theft and fire. But I have American Family Insurance for everything else and they were close but I decided to just lump it in with my zero interest loan through Kubota

Guys with newer tractors, who are you using for insurance? I'm picking up a new LS MT225S this week and AAA, who covers my home and cars gave me an exceptionally high quote :(
Mine's just covered under my homeowners, but I don't travel with mine to do work. I just use it on my own property. EDIT: Mine was also delivered by my local dealer, so transport home wasn't an issue.

Interesting to hear. I had AAA for 19 years, but dropped them after I was broken into in 2013. They jacked my deductible from $500 to $2500, and raised my rates 43%, despite arresting the dirtbag kids who committed the breakin two days later. Customer service at its finest.

ohhhh that sucks! I always liked my agent and he advised me on a cheaper (less expensive) route more than once. I shopped around a few times but always found his rates competitive. I guess I'm lucky that we never had a major claim. I think it's pretty common knowledge that insurance companies only tend to "loan" you the money and they will always get it back. I think the only time that wouldn't hold true is a catastrophic claim.

RE on topic of tractor insurance, agreed, mine would have been covered under home owners but the moment it leaves my property, it wouldn't have been covered. Since my sole purpose to buy it is to trailer it to my vacant property up north, it needed to be covered.

Funny side bar on that. I forgot to call to see if I needed to insure it (always assumed it was covered under home owners and/or tow rig insurance) and while on my way home with it on the trailer I was talking to my wife & said, hey we should probably call to see if we need insurance. My agent told her to call me and tell me to pull over immediately & call him. So I did. That's when I found out he was being let go THAT DAY and we had a heartfelt conversation. He was totally depressed. After 30 some years, he was being let go the week before Christmas. Fuck AAA. That's a shitty move.

I'm going price shopping in a couple weeks. I didn't have time to shop since I was on the side of the road. LOL

I hate the commercials but maybe libity bibbity is the way to go. Not a fan of Progressive but that's the only company that would give me driving school insurance so may look there, along with the suggestions above.

State Farm was $225/yr for just that. I had it thr first year because I thought I was gonna use it to do some side work, once I realized it's never gonna leave the property I let homeowners cover it of needed.

If American family is available in Michigan I’d give a local agent a call. I deal with an independent agent and they are awesome. I lost my home and almost all my contents in 2010 and they absolutely took care of me and never raised my insurance a dime. Had one auto claim and never raised my insurance a dime. My insurance is pretty cheap I think. I even have life insurance through them.
