Will XJ Dana 35 brakes (ie backing plates drums ect) go onto a XJ/MJ Dana 44?

Also could i use dana 35 brake drums shoes ect with the dana 44 backing plates? basically i have a Dana 44 with just backing plates that im trying to put brakes on to make it easier to sell

The backing plates are different unless its an older non-clip 35. Newer dana 35 use a smaller brakes (D44-10" D35-9") and the bolt pattern to bolt it on the axle is smaller.I went throught the same thing trying to get my xj D44 together. You can use dana 35 drum brakes if it is an older no-clip 35 with 10" brakes.

This may be a stupid question but why not go with disk brakes off of a ZJ Dana 35?

He said he was just trying to sell it. If your going to do a disk brake swap on a mj/xj dana 44, explorer 8.8 disk brakes are pretty much a bolt in. Do not have to redrill backing plates.
