I’m considering putting a mechanical diesel in my WJ, only because I have one, and my 4.7 is junk.

What do I have to do computer/electrical wise to make this happen?

What motor? Ease of swap? Special adapters needed? Did you retain the factory tranny? What tranny did it used to have?
6.2 GM, the most challenging swap I've done. I used a TH400 to NP231 adaptor and 1" spacer to retain the stock NP247 in the same location.

Had to remove the right upper control arm mount for the exhaust. I had a 4.5" long arm lift on that didn't use it.

No more sensors, electronics, codes, scanners.....

Lots of custom fab and wiring.

I have about $1500 in the swap. about the same price as a well worn used 4.7.

I already found a spare used 6.2 for $150.

It's not a daily driver, and I don't care about highway speeds or mileage.

I have not. It doesn't see a lot of street use anymore. It would be interesting to find out someday.

I bought a 2017 GMC Canyon diesel to DD now that easily gets 30 mpg.

How many miles do you have on it? Any issues to date? I am contemplating getting one for my wife.
