Ford talking with buyers for Jaguar, Land Rover

Ford Motor Co. confirmed today that it is seriously looking at selling Jaguar and Land Rover, and is talking with interested buyers. Ford "is currently exploring in greater detail the potential sale of the combined business," the automaker said in a statement

The Rover plants I have been to are the worst in the world

I'de be willing to bet Rovers quality is a hell of a lot better now that it was in the 90s prior to Ford's ownership.

Unless when you say "good" you mean 1950s and 60s

The idea of Rover's are good, but the execution of Rover's haven't been good. Pretty much the same as Jaguar.

I dig old Rovers, but if I ever had one, I'd pull out everything until it was a chassis and start over. Maybe I'd keep the engine if it had the aluminum v8 since it was a GM design, but the rest would be sold on ebay.

It's a damn shame we're looking to sell them as the fleet Defender platform would make a viable underpinning for more than a few product lines. Bronco just to give an example.
