Comcast is a constant fustration.
Rates have gone up several times now.

I have been considering signing up for the internet through a cell phone provider, and getting a satelite.

Anyone have a good or bad opinion on Direct TV or Dish??

Looking for basics, history channel, sports (fox sports and espn).

I wouldn't say uverse is a lower bill, for comparable service. If you pay full price for comcast, U-Verse is cheaper. However, on a deal, Comcast can be slightly cheaper.

U-Verse is a better service overall, I'm not trying to knock it, just don't think you should get the wrong impression.

I'm with U-Verse for the better service, and I don't have to call and bitch every 6 months to lower my bill. U-Verse is a flat rate, and if you get the right deal, they give you a couple hundred bucks after 3 months of service.

I also have AT&T U-Verse and have found their service to be far better than Comcast. DVR's are great, you can access your DVR online and schedule recordings online from any computer, anywhere. They'll also simultaneously record more shows than any other cable provider (to my knowledge)

I'm very happy with them.

I have U-Verse and am very happy with it. customer service is great and internet is fast.
I have had Direct tv and was happy but no internet. also great customer service.
Dish is good but there is a pause when switching channels that is annoying.
Comcast sucks and worst service from any company I have ever dealt with!

wow, Uverse would be $131/month, compared to our Comcast that just went up to $110, and was $74 until recently.
Now looking into Satelite providers.
For which package? Mine's somewhere around there, but I get all channels except HBO and skinemax. I think I may have upgraded my internet service from the default as well.

Also remember, most Comcast prices are promotional. They'll raise your rates after the promo period, if you forget to call.

yeah, I hate calling every 6 months, channels are sometimes fuzzy, internet cuts out twice a week, just very done with comcast.
Looking into direct TV now $35 a month for the 210 channel package, has all of our channels, and looks like a pretty good deal.

Also happy with dish. $10 for the HD upgrade, which is worth it. Any brand of HD likes to pixilate and cut out during bad weather. Having the analogue included, will keep your service available longer during storms.

You people are seriously paying over 100 bucks a month for TV!!!!
When I had Direct TV 10 yrs ago, I cancelled because I thought 28/month was ridiculous. What the heck are you getting for 100 bucks a month???
IMO, TVs not worth paying for.
Put an antenna on your roof and enjoy free TV. Or better yet, just turn it off. It's mostly garbage anyways.

Free antenna TV is going away in 2012, because broadcasting equipment is too expensive iThe total changeover to HD is going to make antennae obsolete.

I have had directv for years but now I am thinking about doing away with it because I have a computer hooked right up to my TV and can watch anything I want on hulu.com for free...So IMO just spend your money on the best internet you can get and call it a day.

DirectTV and Dish are both good and give you plenty of channels for your money. If you watch a lot of sports I would suggest DTV, they have many many sports based add-on packages.

Other than that I would say Dish is better. There really isn't much price difference between the two. The benefit you get with Dish that we really liked was the fact that you get 2 rooms for the price of one. This is because with the dish system you only have one receiver which relays the feed to a second room using only the coax cable. (granted the second room wouldn't be HD)
