I have a 1997 Chevy 1500 with a 5.7(350) a 4L60E and a np243c transfer case. The TC works fine but the front housing is cracked by the electric actuator and dripping fluid. I have a np231 with manual shift. Has the same gear ratio and visually looks the same. Will it bolt up to my tranny. Or can I take the front housing off the 231 and put it on the 243 and just use the manual shift. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Don't have much of a budget. Tried sealing crack to no avails. Thank you

The problem you will run into is the input shaft will likely be different between the two cases. You will have to mix and match parts and possibly bearings between the two to get it to work. In my opinion you'd be better off just grabbing a used case that will plug and play rather than screwing around with something that may or may not work, unless you are dead set on converting to manual shift.
