[FORD FLARESIDE]

I sold my old 5th wheel deck over trailer to fund the new motor in the Flareside.
Now I'm far enough along on the Flareside, to warrant a need for a trailer again.

I picked up some scrap steel and this is what I'm building. 20 ft long deck (24 ft with tongue), lower on drop axles, upper ramp style carhauler:

The actual build started Saturday, and I was able to get to this point by Sunday night. Lot of work yet to go, but I plan on having it assembled and on the scale next Saturday.

Main frame and tongue are now done, and I managed to get the spring hangers cut. I hope to set the axles Wednesday.

flipped the trailer and mounted the axles tonight.

Question:


Do I go with recessed LED lights on the trailer, or regular recessed lights?

I like the brightness of LED's but have never used them on a trailer. Are they worth the extra cost and "Cool" factor, and do I need to do anything special in the wiring, or do the lights come with all necesseties?

I just bought some led turn signals from superbright.
Their expensive, but the cool factor/ no maintanence and sealed unit especially on a trailer would do it for me. (yes their very bright and dunking a boat trailer 10 times a year tends to cause issues)

Nothing special needs to be done unless your installing them on the vehicle itself.

john use the LED sealed lights i can get them for 25 a light but they last 100000 hours and they only need three wires to hook them up. draw very little and they are bright.

Put the tires on so I could get real measurements for the Ramps. I also leveled out the frame, and found out I'm pretty close to the ground. I may have to mount skid bars under the back of the trailer.:teehee:
Looks like I'm going to place the ramps 12 inches above the main frame for tire clearance, which ironically is what my 3d model said it would be.:thumb:
