I have seen a couple s10's like that. Have you seen the 2 door geo metro that has been back halved and turned into a 'convertible'. They chopped the roof off behind the b-pillar. Its at the substation on schoenherr just south of hall quite a bit.

Seen the first car at harbor freight today probably buying some new performance parts. LOL
