I emailed him and offered 2 digital cameras, a sears air compressor, a Mag Light complete with the LED conversion and a brand new pack of Double Stuff Chocolate Creme Oreos.

Haven't heard back yet but I think this is all mine.

That's very true. But Detroit is trashed. I grew up around 8 mile/kelly. It was nice back then, now it's in decline, just like the rest of the place.

I go to chicago at least twice a year and hang out for a few days each time. I go to Detroit maybe once a year for a game or the casino, and as soon as I'm done, I get the hell out of there. It will never come back or be anything close to what it used to be. They let that place go to hell, and that's where it's staying.

Doesn't surprise me.. If you search foreclosed houses in the area, its not unusual to find 5-6 bedroom 2000+ sq. ft. houses for $5,000-10,000.

In the pictures, some of the houses dont look too bad, its everything surrounding the house that you dont see.

In order for that to be an "investment", you would have to be willing to hang onto that thing for a LONG long time before it would even be worth your time IMO.

They didn't "let it go to hell." The city didn't have much of a recourse when the upwardly mobile moved out and left the people behind who couldn't afford to move out. Then the jobs followed the people out. Bye bye, tax base. Bye bye, school system funding. Bye bye, efficient public transportation.

Not that I'm disagreeing that it's a shit hole. I'm just saying you can't blame the city that people wanted to live in suburbs. It happens all over the place - Detroit is just the worst example.

detroit is a festering sore on the face of america. i say we fence it in berlin wall style and give it to canada. that way the people can still get their welfare and medicaid without our tax dollars paying for it.

Worse than "letting" it go to hell, it was escorted there by Coleman Young and his merry band of mismanaging racists after the 12th Street riots in 1967. Now "Mayor Homey" and his ghetto pals are rappin' their way to Detroit's ultimate ruin, taking racist preferences and nepotism to new lows.

I hear Detroit still has one or two token white employees. Anyone have any proof?
