My 97 TJ has a 2in hole in the exhaust in front of the cat. I took it to muffler man and they quoted it at $639 to fix (this included a new manifold). Does anybody know of a cheaper fix for this? I was thinking of going to a u wrench and getting the tubing from the manifold to the cat, then getting a cat back system, and rigging a piece of pipe where the cat would have been (I dont want the cat on it). I dont really know much about exhaust, so any input would be appreciated. My Jeep has the 4.0 if that makes a difference.
