Found a screaming deal on some 37” MTZs. (Under $1100 for the set delivered from 4wheelparts after discounts and rebate)

Got them and had them mounted on the rims i picked up last year. Rear is on bump stops and front is about 1” above bump stops.

Have a few things to button up on the front end, then it’s on to cage work.

Also acquired an 8274 in a good trade with a friend

After doing some research and figuring, an 8274 would be the only winch that would mount below the top of the bumper and still give me enough room for the steering box (i hope)

Any new progress?

My 48 is officially on the road... I may need to do a drive by one of these days.
Still need to hang my steering box and see how the track bar and drag link work out in the front, mount bump stops in the front. Suspension is done other than that. Started working on the fuel cell mount and rear of the tub, progress has slowed due to funding and enjoying summer.

Red truck needs to go so I can get back on this with more exuberance... and funds.

Almost have everything I need for full mock up, just need to spend time on it.

FWIW, I've got standard hardware store fine thread 6 point hex bolts in mine and they work just fine.

After having to take some time off of working on it due to bulging discs in my back, finally getting some work done on it. Steering box mounted, added front bracing, mocked up 8274 location, front bumpstops installed.

rolled it out of the garage to clean up the floor for the first time in ages. Hoping to keep the ball rolling and keep plucking away at what I have in hand already save for some nickel and dime stuff.

Currently gathering parts for my Mary Jane CJ2a build. Thinking about doing all the prep work, then having friends over for a build bash and doing the whole build and assembly in one weekend. Should be an interesting build. This is to get me a running Jeep this spring. Financially, I can get Mary Jane done this spring, whereas the Kernel will take significantly longer (I refuse to hurry this build, build it once, build it right). Mary Jane will be a fun, low slung 2wd setup.

TLDR:

Pictures.

As much as I love the looks of this thing, I think I might have to sell or part out the kernel to get a family friendly rig. Was sitting in my new workshop last night pondering things and didn't want to have to choose who I took out for a ride in the future. I will not have enough time to give to justify having multiple wheeling rigs, so something's gotta give.

:( i was really looking forward to seeing this hit the trails, but I understand your conundrum.
