In design and parts collecting phase.
EDIT: The build has started. see page 6

I acquired a 1946 CJ2a from Mr. Crawl this past summer for my next rig since parting out the eliminator. I wanted to come up with a name before I posted the start to the build thread.

Only keepin the front cowl, fenders, grille, and hood. rest will be sold or scrapped.

Starting from the ground up, the plan is for 35" tires on a pair of scout axles (or something else in the 60" wms range) with some sort of traction aid in at least the rear to start. Ended up with 44/44 Waggy axles.

Toss up on the suspension, but it will be linked. Low slung as sensically reasonable. 4 link front and rear with ORI struts

Frame will be new, along with a custom tub taking the styling queues of the original, which will allow for a slight wheelbase stretch in the rear. A roll cage will be installed, either tied into the body, or separate. PRP low back seats are the preference for now. Some sort of Desert Tan will be the main color for the rig. Largely unchanged, except mastercraft low back seats.

As for the powertrain, and part of the name I've given to this project.
e-85 powered 3800 pontiac supercharged engine attached to a powerglide(now planning for an AW4 with a d300 (might just stick with 231 with SS SYE). Overall length of this setup should be in the 52-55" range. Add in 350 hp while being under 1200# drivetrain, and you have some great power to weight ratio. 3800sc/700r4/231c

The goal of this ride: To be able to cruise at 60 mph down the highway comfortably, wheel it, and drive it home. 70mph

This will not be a fast build, but should start seeing some shape take place next summer after I finish fixing up the 77 ranger bass boat. started fall 2015

Needs a carrier bearing

My plans for winter heat is charcoal in an old cast iron water heater.

Might play with coal depending on how the charcoal runs

I also have two add on plans that may or may not happen:
1. Run a water circuit through a radiator with a fan/blower
2. Use a high efficency blower from my old water heater to make a small forge

Please do yourself a favor.... At least use single wall chimney pipe....not galvanized duct.... Especially if you plan on trying coal.

After the first burn, it should be pretty alright. No worse than me welding galvanized in the shop all day back in high school... I figured I'd leave the shop well ventilated while i did the first test burn while it burns off any shit. Plan to keep my eyes on the duct temp as well.

The small diameter black stovepipe is all special order at the local Menard's as well :(
Just been buying some parts on hella deals and sending out inquiries.

Also, really fox? I inquired on a few questions on air shocks, one they answered directly.

I also asked them about giving them a sheet with all my weights and measurements and having some shocks done up ready to go delivered. They came back with having to buy from distribution and ship to them from me with the info and then paying a bunch of different ways in shipping before having them done how i wish.

I have access to race scales and figure i can get it pretty close through those measurements with some other information.

I guess I'll talk to some other companies and see if they want to work with someone that knows what they want. I just found it all very silly

Sounds like my continual pitching of the jeep needs to be out of a garage before putting a baby in the oven seems to be paying off

got some driveshafts to alter from dmcjeep. no way they are the right length, but price was right and they'll get used :d:

picked up a fuel cell (26 gallon) tonight from a local guy. brand new. $100. pleased.

Picking up material next week

planning to work on the jeep or in the family welding shop all next week... alright, I'll probably have some laziness or housework in there somewhere.

Hopefully will have some good progress pictures by the beginning of the year!
Ordered 5.13 gears and install packages Did some gear checking and figured why not over the 4.88s.

ordered a sye for the 231 as well.

Going to go see a man about a welding tank and go get material tomorrow :d:

shaping up to be a good month.
Big shoutout to Purity for getting me set up on a bottle of mix gas, gonna be happy to be off the flux cored gasless.

Bought some material from the family shop instead of digging through drops out in the cold, gotta run to greenville in the morning to pick up some DOM and roll cage material :d:

Side note, dog destroyed the transducer to the ice fishing fish finder while I was gone, $100 down the tubes.
So happy to be back on gas shielded wire.

Got the shop cleaned out, motor mounts installed, figured phase ii of my shop heat, and some other misc stuff done.

Gonna pick up a heat reclaimer to get back alot of my lost heat from the exhaust. It drafts really, really well and i need to slow it down a tad.

Heres some updated pics

Got some errands to do in the am, but plans to get the seating figured out along with the rock rails and side steps for tomorrow, if it goes better than expected i'll probably tear into doing the sye since its easily accessible at this time.

When i upgrade to 37s on 17s, ill space the tires back in a bit (36x13.50 iroks on it currently)

Pretty happy so far

Looking good. The hydroboost master cylinder looks like a must.

More room than i thought, but still planning on a mustang unit.

I'll try to snap a few more pics tomorrow of the engine bay.

Update for today: had to do some running around for the wife, and got behind so i decided to take the night off and will fire up the heaters in the morning.

Picked up a magic air unit, should resolve any lack of heat. Should be installed early while im preheating with my propane torpedo.

Got some nut coal :teehee: today from tsc, plan to light with charcoal then add some coal into the mix as i go

Got a free dewalt chop saw from the family shop today, didnt realize they had 2 and havent been using this one
