Anyone have any experience with solar power. I am wanting to put a fan in my dog house to cool it down in there. It gets pretty hot here during the day and we are wanting to build a shelter for our pet when we are away for extended periods.

If anyone has any ideas other than some sort of fan that would be "cool" too

We dont like the idea of leaving him crated for long periods of time. We have about an acre of fenced in yard he can run around in so why not let him run. When we are home we let him run and just bring him in but if we are away in poor weather we would like him to be able to shelter himself.

why not just run electricity from the house to the dog house and wire up a fan with a temp switch?

$50 for the panel, and a couple bucks for the fan...fan moves about 57 cfm, and draws 0.29a @12vdc, and the panel has a max output of 0.42a @12vdc...not sure if it would work for a direct feed like that though

Your dog deserves the best. Install AC for him. Preferably with a programmable control so he can set the temp to his liking.
