My hobbies are pushing snow and stacking wood.
It looks like the north west is going to take a hit.
Where you used to live is only going to get a couple of inches. :ROFLMAO:

I'm not ready for winter. While I have an assload of wood cut, I don't have much left that is dry (less than 12%). I have a ton that is 13-16% and a bazillion that is 20%+. This year we have used twice the wood previous years. It's windy, my wife has been sick, and I have a lot of attic work I'm doing plus I have most of the attic insulation not on part of the house.

We've only run the oil burner for about 15 hours so far this year which is tiny compared to a normal working year.

I have a bunch of trees down I was looking forward to getting cut up before winter showed up, but oh well.
Well it's gonna be cold as shit but the snow is looking to be a little disappointing at this rate. We'll see. The wind might give you some additional downed trees to chop up too.

The blizzard warming for us says 12-26in of snow, but the regular weather forecast is only calling for 1-3" of snow.

so what we've got is, might be 1 in to 26 inches of snow, could be none, and might start friday saturday, or next year; might miss us completely

That’s a fair trade, I’ll take it.
Moving out of there was a spiritual moment for me. I am NOT a city guy.

we are burning off the wood deck we stacked when we moved in, so it seasoned for three years. Big difference! It burns hotter, cleaner, lasts longer. We are burning the good wood now. We have next years wood stacked. We were stacking for the year after that when i torqued my knee.
My wood plan is to keep three years worth stacked. So far, the plan is good.

Timeline looks like it is just going to snow for a few days.

It looks like the west side is going to be piling up snow and bucking wind.
Other than keeping my driveway clear, I plan on being a “Snow Spectator” this time.
As I like to say “hunker down and bunker up, it’s not safe outside the compound“.

Well this turned out to be a big ol nothing burger here. Maybe 2" of snow if I exaggerate. Yup, it's cold and the wind chill is bitter and dangerous. But other than that, pretty lame.

I hope the folks on the west side of the state are doing OK. Far more lake effect snow there.

this sounds like fun, NOT!
An Arctic front kicks up dust as it rolls into Denver on Dec. 21, 2022. Later Wednesday afternoon, it was Denver's turn, with a drop from 42 to 18 in 7 minutes, cooling to just 5 degrees an hour later with a wind chill of -23. The 37-degree temperature drop in an hour also appears to have set a record.
We got only a couple inches, but it is snowing horizontally .

The wind event has subsidead.
Snow is vertical and gravity inclined again.
Because I’m up against the lake, it was ”blow snow”, snow that looks like blow. Like the “blow sand“ my house is built only snow. So two foot drifts, one foot or less on the flats.

If you read my post about the BlueJay army amassing in my yard.
recap: used to see Bjays at the most once a week. Then it was two or three at a time.
in the spring they built a nest in the tree over my bedroom window. We had six or so Bjay lol summer. NOW, there are twenty blue jays.
There are between seven and ten in the box alone and another ten throughout the yard.

Officially got 8" of snow here in NW Indiana. I think that's within the range that was predicted. But lots of blowing and drifting so looks less than that. Roads are snow and ice covered. Sun is shining today, feels wonderful :) View out my front door.

Been snowing since dark, we're up to about 4" at our house... so about 3" in the last 18 hours. I tried driving to my parents' this afternoon but turned around about 25 minutes north... which was about 14 miles. Which usually takes about 14 minutes.. There were drifts on top of slush on top of ice. Saw lots of squirrelly tracks all over, including someone driving over the center of the roundabout by my house that is full of rock.

We only got a 2-3" from the initial storm, which resulted in areas with exposed grass and others with close to a foot thanks to the winds. I'm about a football field distance away from the highest point in Livingston County so we get pretty good winds here. Calm now, but with the snow in the past 36s hours we've got an average of about 6" on the ground. Super light fluffy stuff of course, but enough for my son to do some sledding.

Just had to pop in here to comment on this thread. Normally I prefer to peruse GL4x4 while on the clock at work..

But the snowmageddon 2022, with the multiple cell phone emergency alerts for a blizzard with 1ft to 2ft snow and 50mph wind....turned into 4 inches of snow, and a little bit of wind.

Way to go weather people
