Should I buy an iPad?

I've been eyeing the iPad since it came out and may have convinced the wife to let me have one. I think it would be great to have for around the house internet use and for my wife to use to read books for her masters program. What is everyone's opinion on the iPad?? Worth $500??

Has cglenn EVER said anything funny?
Once. I think he got Kudos for it too.
I would buy a Itouch and then a Small Net book. You could get away with that for the same money and still be better off then if you just got the Ipad. It's pretty much just a Big Itouch with some "Cooler" Features.
I thought everyone knew what the Ipad really was? :teehee:

My wife wants an Ipad in such a bad way. I told her hell no am i spending $500 on a half-ass laptop or a super sized ipod touch. Besides that, she already has a laptop set-up for wireless and she has the ipod touch. I think the ipad might be worth the money if it was its own wifi hotspot and didn't really on an outside source.

Basically a big waste of money, but everyone wants one be cause its the next I-wtf-ever and you must be cool if you have one. This thing is completely worthless in its current form.
I want one to replace my notepad. A guy at work has the Ipad and he carries it to meetings and has it hooked to the wireless network. It's so much more mobile and efficient than a laptop.
I want one so I can hang with all the cool Apple people.

not
spend you $$ on beer. at least that won't be out-dated in 4 months.
Do you want to be called an iPenis? If so, buy one. :thumb:
My thoughts are that having an iPad would save time and wear on my laptop....

If I wanted to just browse the internet or quick emails, why use a laptop and "save" it for what I bought it for (teaching, writing, etc.). I would think using an iPad would save the life of my laptop.
For the price of a Ipad you can buy an entry level laptop or almost two netbooks.

I bought a netbook instead, so my answer is no.

kinda sad that the pc makers took so long to get their price points down - I've been a fan of convertible tablets for 5+ years - but previously they were always way up in price compared to a comparable laptop.

rather odd logic.
