The Edelbrock 600 should be more than enough. I ran the same settup and had to rejet the primaries down one size to get it right. Those carbs are easy to tune, read the manual a few times before you adjust anything. Install the off road needle and seat to keep it running good off road.

 

Thanks for the info. I decided I'm going to take this one back and get the 1826 carb instead. It has the off road needle and seat already and the guy from edelbrock said it would be a good fit for the performer RPM intake that I have.
Unless theres a reason I shouldn't use this one......

 

Sorry I can't give advise on what one to use because I don't know anything about your motor. If the Edelbrock guy says that's the one, I would listen to him. Hopefully you have a matched cam for the other parts or its a waste.

If you're planning on running it off road, don't waste your time on an Edelbrock. Go with the Holley Truck Avenger. There is no comparison.

My experience with the Edelbrock 600 was flawless. Take the time to tune it to your motor and it should perform good. I know several people who have run both carbs and like one or the other. Ask Jason Hull about his Truck Avenger and you'll get a different story than rino's. Sorry Jim I had to add my two cents, my Edelbrock ran great.

 

No offense taken. I screwed around with my Edelbrock for 2-3 years. Did the spring loaded needle & seats, changed floats, changed metering rods, changed jets. It was inconsistent and no matter what it didn't like angles. When I lowered the float low enough to work good on hills, I would run out of gas on full throttle assaults. I couldn't win.

I also had problems with my first Truck Avenger. I bought one right after they came out. I had trouble with it flooding over. After back and forth a couple times, they came out with an upgraded version. They swapped out a year old carb for a brand new one, no questions asked. After that one got tuned, never a problem again. I wonder if Jason had an earlier one? I'm guessing he did because he's been running propane for years.

I'm sure there are Edelbrock success stories. Just not me.

 

Well I ended up with the edelbrock 1826 off road carb. Going to try and have this beast running by this weekend. Thanks again.
