Thats the problem with everything having a warning label these days. I rarely read them.

this is no joke this happened to me over the winter.

i wasnt welding but cleaning parts in our shop and had a propane heater running, my brother sprayed off a part and misted the heater, next thing you know i couldnt catch my breath and then ended up puking my guts out. i went online once i got ahold of my self and read up on whats in brake cleaner and that article popped up, called my brother and told him to air the place out. He was also having a hard time breathing.

luckily both of us just got a wiff of it and nothing serious happened

read that article quite a while ago, and aftger reading it, checked into the brand of brake cleaner I use at work, and the brand I use at home, and neither have tetrachoroethylene in them. Havent found anything in either shop that does, honestly...I still dont use any of the chemicals on something that I'm going o be welding on or heating, just in case...anything that has had those chemicals on it goes through the hot tank and then air dryed for an hour or so

I also made sure everyone in the shop knew about it, and printed out the article and posted it on the bulletin board in the break room. The boss just kind of blew it off, didnt really care, and I saw the article only stayed up for about a week...I need to print it out again and hang it back up.

I am a victim of this. Cleaning break parts in the shop.
Over spray got on other parts I was going to weld later. Once I started welding it was all over barely made it out of the shop before I blacked out.
This should be a sticky at the top of the fabrication section forever
