The wheels I have on my XJ have been painted grey by the previous owner. They are chrome underneath although I am sure it is cheap chrome. Does anybody know if paint stripper will hurt the chrome or will it be okay? The paint is coming off so some of the chrome is showing and I think they would look a lot better chrome rather than painted.

I wire wheeled mine and they came out ok. I'd say start with a mild paint stipper first if you are going the chemical route, don't just jump in and start with aircraft stripper or something like that.

Okay, I was going to use aircraft stripper since I used it on the intake of my Fiero and it worked great but I was afraid of what it would do to the chrome. I will try the cheap stripper from ACE first.

I probably won't do this until winter anyway when I won't use the jeep as much.
