My cat might be kinda old, But I would bet he can kick most other cats ass.

Update: September 2014
The cat that started this thread is not longer with us.

Fire sprinkler busted in the day job shop last night, sprayed nasty water all over raw aluminum for lord knows how long last night lol, good time.
Did the sprinkler break all spooky like from forces beyond our intellectual recognition, or did someone bust it? It's not likely anyone will take the blame for that, but i can tell you from experience that Fire sprinklers do not just break randomly. They will take a bit of abuse before losing that little fusible link... otherwise heat would be the culprit.

I'm told they just blow sometimes, I'd imagine these units are 40+ years old.

Still no update on my car, been sitting at the dealer since they found the new code. They haven't even looked at it. Not even really sure what to to do at this point.

Not like I can just take the car and drive it, what's the point, driving it down the road at 60mph and the PS stops working? Been looking for a replacement car but it's extremely slim pickings anywhere in northern MI. That and our budget is pretty shitty.

I just read that used car repo's are at like 65% right now lol.

So give it a few months, I'm sure some will be along.
That's kinda what i'm hoping, find something in a while. Meantime we have my ma's jeep as it's more reliable than my 96 truck lol.

Did read that prices are supposed to be coming down on used stuff. even still, $15,000 for an 8 year old car with 100k miles is ridiculous, no matter inflation.

I know my wife and I are feeling the effects of inflations and costs. We haven't been buying anything extra and are still spending more.

I've been in the trade for over 20 years, and i can tell you that they don't just blow sometimes... the only time they "just blow" is if there was some sort of damage inflicted upon them, whether at install(40 years is a long time for a damaged sprinkler to hold lol) or there was a flying object that struck one in the shop. There's another possible explanation too, there could have been enough heat generated from someone torching parts or even playing a joke with a bag of flammable gas that got lit... I've seen that one before. Nobody wants to admit what actually happened is what i find in most cases, then the old "they just blow sometimes" is the go to response, which is not true. The sprinklers are air tested before they leave. A malfunction happens about one in 10 million and doesn't take 40 years to find......

You're probably right, I don't really personally care enough to go roam around and interrogate people about it though.

I found the whole thing hilarious from home on my couch watching them run around trying to clean shit up.

I'm seeing more and more projects and things that were clearly stimmy funded and have been in the backyard every since the checks stopped popping up for sale, prices seem to have leveled at least also.

Chain hoist hanging from a branch line is usually a clue. Most non-fire activation I have seen were from freezing when someone propped a door open, after that I would go with forklifts.
but then there is this guy

Lol don't expect you to.
It just sucks for me when that is the excuse. It kind of gives Fire sprinklers a bad reputation... it is hilarious when it happens though. Usually a black plume of the nastiest smelling/ staining water you've ever had to deal with! I love it, smells like money to me! Lol

A kid in high school threw a pen across the classroom and hit a sprinkler which set it off. Nasty black water ruined everything in the classroom including backpacks, purses, and clothes. Kid had to pay the school's insurance deductible.
Yeah it's pretty rank. You can't get the stains out from that black water... it's a combination of rust, muck from the city water supply and bacteria from sitting stagnant for years and years lol
