What a week!

We were able to get in touch with the sister and mother of my son's ex-girlfriend, she had his son about 6 months before he died. My son was trying to prove to her that he was cleaning up his act, but his health turned for the worse.

The ex-girlfriend still doesn't want to see us, but her mom and sister met us to introduce us to our grandson, Samuel.

They are going to try to get her on board with seeing us, it's seems that miscommunication and rumors have kept us apart.

This is the best Christmas gift ever, to get a piece of my son back, to know that this is no longer the end of the line.

I don’t know you but that is awesome,not sure on Michigan laws but in Ohio grandparents can go to court and get visitation rights too. I’m guessing with the loss of ur son you are even more likely to get visitation. I have a 5 year old grandson that truly changed my life and made me a better person. Best of luck man

Unfourtinitly, there are no "grandparent's rights" in Michigan. Hopefully, he does not need to look into it.

Her mother told us that because Samuel's birthday and James' birthday are only a few weeks apart that the month of March is rough on her, and the anniversary of James' death is especially tough. They were planning to get married when my wife said some things at a party that didn't sit well. Never call the current girlfriend by the old girlfriend's name, and then talk about how much you liked the old girlfriend. Yup, my wife did that, and owns up to it.

We shall see how things go Wednesday.
