I know about the explorer thing and all that. I am looking for one with disks and 4.10's

So if I am strolling through the junk yard and there are several explorers out there, is there a version, year or type of explorer that I should look more for to find the 4.10's or was that just an option and they could be anywhere and i'll have to pull covers?

That's pretty much it.

A trailer package with V6 may be more likely to have 4.10 LSD, while V8s are more likely 3.73 or 3.55 (so I'm told). I'm sure you already know that Rangers would have the 27 spline shafts.

Or just come on down, visit the family, and buy the one with the mounts already cut off that's in my garage... :sonicjay:

Tim, some are 27 and some are 31 spline. The exploders are 31. Not sure what are 27, but I remember running into 2 different #'s when I ordered my Detroit.

well, there are no 27 spline 8.8's..

it's either 28 or 31

31 is explorer, 28 is ranger, unless its a new FX4 level II, then it is 31

Nope- all Exploders have 31 spline. Drums included.

MuddyPaws- look for the Eddie Bauer edition- all of the disc/Eddie Bauer Exploders I have found in the JY have had 4.10s (I'm talking 30+ rigs)

Watch for bent axles, however- I stopped selling Exploder 8.8s because I ended up with so many with tweaked shafts. (Not that I am against a good shaft tweaking now and again....)
