Just bought 10 acres with a manufactured house.Looking to put up a pole barn in the next couple weeks.Any good builders in the area?Prices?What have ya'll done.Haven't talked to the township yet to see how big I can go.Heck, I don't even close till this friday.Just getting happy..

I use to work for a crew by the name of Brower Builders out of the Holland area. I'm sure they would be very interested. I built anything from a 2 stall garage to a 400x120 pole building. They really do nice work and they can help you figure your size. If you want a ball park figure, I'd say 30-35,000 will get you a 40x60, 14-16 ft. side walls, one overhead door, and a cement floor. I think that's an ideal size personally. Let me know and I will get you their number. They work all over the state.

Look, I was in the building industry for a long time and still have alot of contacts there and I know what the going rate is for a pole barn. You get what you pay for. So please, keep the comments to yourself. This is a recommendation and maybe the builder can do it cheaper but like I said, you get what you pay for. Take a look yourself before you make comments please. Look at a different size. There are many options.

Nice professonal response. You don't see that too often around here.

I've been thinking about a 40x40 with 14' walls. The basic price for a residential style unit with asphalt roof, 12x12 door, service door, and vinyl siding is around 12k from Menards.

I figured I would have around 20k in the building with cement, insulation, electical, and a basic heating system. This is of course me having to do all of the work.

okay...and how do you know he will build it with guaranteed quality and a warranty? the fact is you don't and I think 30-35k for a pole barn is too high of a price...pole barns are simple builds and they do not take a master craftsman to build one, there for they should not fetch a premium when it comes to total cost...I believe you get what you pay for, however I have built several poles barns and the work is not difficult...using his example of 60x40 for 35k works out to about $69 a square foot.....TOO HIGH!!!!
