Also looking for an explorer 8.8 with 4.10s and disc brakes
Would have to cut the rear bracketry off of the rear axle to put leaf springs. most people want $3-5k for a set of rubicon dana 44s. The rubicon front dana 44 has 30 outers. Not really that much help or need for wanting to run 32s. a bolt in solution makes the most sense, hence looking for the 35 out of an xj or tj.Wouldn’t you just be better off with a set of Rubicon Dana 44’s. They would have disc brakes, 4.10 gearing, and factory lockers. I would think you could find some take outs from either a swap or a wrecked TJ. Not sure how well a JK would work but a set of Rubicon JK axles might be an option as well. I don’t know much about the XJ’s so I can’t say how easy the swap would be but since they are all Jeep and coil springs This may be good option. Converting either rear axle to leaf springs wouldn’t be a huge ordeal for the rear.
I guess I’m throwing this out because I’m not a huge fan of either the Dana 30 or the Ford 8.8. A Ford 9” rear would be a good choice with a 44 front as well. Just more options.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
