i have a 4.0L from a 91 explorer DISTRIBUTORLESS the only way to go:woot:

an M5ORD 5spd and temp a 1354 but will eventually have a 1350-1354 Doubler

rear will be my current 8.8 that you saw at the spring fling in my explorer
and the frt will be that D44 but shortened on the pass side to that of a EB



Yep the Explorer is getting gutted to help build this project and the left over parts will be used on other Cheapthrills RBV's

now bear in mind i am on about 10" of lift and 36's

 

I'd think twice on teh 44. I hear they break within a half hour of wheelin..

 

i've seen 44's hold up pretty strong with chrome moly shafts 760 ujoints..........comparing it to my TTB D35 i think it'll be plenty stronger then what i had

 

Are you ready to sell me those lift brackets yet?

Progress so far i have modified the firewall to work with the pedal assm and the dash from a 91 Ex as well as i installed the heater assm inside and outside of the firewall. Gonna start stripping the frame here the next few days as well as get the drivetrain out of the explorer

 

You should be almost bullet proof. I've had good luck with the 44 in mine after I went to yukon shafts and super joints, even on 38s.

 

after seeing/riding/talking with you at the spring fling.......you became my inspiration to keep and use the D44

 

so much for having a nice bII body. i'll give it i month after it's done for the first body damage.

broke 2 sets of yukons and 1 set of superjoints.sold the 44 and got a 60. waisted alot of money on that 44, where i could of had a bulletproof 60. i know how you drive and you will break that front!! just my 2cents.

 

More progress made...

Got the old susp and body mount brackets off the B2 Frame, got the crappy frame out from under the B2 Body

Got the trans and tcase, the entire frt axle assm and brackets out of the Explorer

 

I have a ttb44 that holds up pretty well although my spyder gears recently have went

 

nice choice on the b2, they look really nice lifted .

 

the brackets and beams are sold from the explorer but i may have the diff (4.88's with an aussie locker) 4-sale soon, gotta check with the other Cheapthrillers first to see if their interested in it and if their not then i'm putting in the sale forum

my new D44, the other one was a f250 8 lug and had a broken Right axleshaft, picked this one up for $150 and it came with good shafts, the arms, well you can see it for yourself.........i plan on reusing the stock radius arms with the b2

i've decided on going full width on the frt axle and using spacers and offest rims on the rear to compensate for the width with my current 8.8

 

good look start, lookin forward to seeing it done, when we gonna swap my motor so I can play also?????

 

you could get a fullsize 8.8 and swap the guts into it.

 

i would except i already locked, geared and converted this 8.8 to disc

 

atleast you can swap it all on the full width, and they are 5x5.5" bp too? If they are it would save you from buying spacers.

 

only thing that would swap would be the carrier and gears, the brakes are 5x4.5 pattern on the rotors and are smaller circumference

 

How big of spacers are you talking about. The track width difference between the full size and the EB is 6 inches.

 

i can get spacers that are 1.80 thick and will convert the 5x4.5 to 5x5.5 and i'll get two rims with a 1 inch different Backspacing then what i'll run in the front. I don't think .20" will be noticeable enough
