Received a router for Christmas from my parents. Some quick metal fabrication and its now CNC controlled! Never knew how fun wood could be... plus it does not throw off god awful fumes into the air and is easy cleanup with a vacuum!

First cut...not so great. Great progress overall since it actually worked. The issue is the float Z-head that is used for the plasma cutter. Also used a normal router bit. SheetCam generated toolpaths...EEK!

Used a 4 flut endmill I had for the Mill. Also locked the float z-head with a bolt. MUCH BETTER! Looking at different bits, they make specific router stuff for this....Looks like I need a down cut bit. The mount still needs to be fully welded so some of the play/vibration is being transmitted into the workspace.

5/8" pine, .125" per pass at around 40ish in/min with a 1/4" bit. Using Fusion 360 to create the toolpaths now...MONEY!

The plasma side of things has made me a good chunk of $ over the past 4ish years and has allowed me to make some really cool things.

Thats a cool sign. Not sure what the spindle speed is. I just set it to level 9 and have at it. My carriage is not the most robust as this is a light duty hobby use table. I need to go through and reinforce everything and make it more rigid...or build a new carriage assembly.

Its just 2D with X,Y and Z adjustments. Looking forward to using it to build some hideaway gun safes and such.

Still need to mess with the G Code post processing. It likes to start weird and cause the bit to slice into the material as it travels to its start point...real fun lol.Making progress though. This is a 6" coaster.
