Hmm looks like a super 60 stub shaft. But I don't know all the details of those axles

 

450-550 05+ use larger unit bearings and larger joints then the 05+ 250-350.

 

Overson? I think, makes a stub that directly engages the bearing. No flange needed.

 

That's beefy looking but doesn't look like the right spline for the unit bearing

 

SO, it looks like CTM has made 1550 stub shafts and 40 spline inners for these 05+ unit bearing knuckles, that spline directly into the HUGE spline drive of the bearing itself.... basically since they came out... 10 years ago.

WTF. Why has this not caught on, and why do people even mess with 40 spline 1480 kingpin stuff!?!

From what I was told when I ordered my RCV's a 60 is a 60 when it comes to RCV's they don't charge anything more for "custom" length shafts as they are already all custom.

 

I called them for 05 and they said the cv they use is way bigger than normal 60 and they cost much more?

 

I didn't talk with them directly, but was quoted $19??.??

Those ouverson stubs are pure beef. Dwarfs all the other parts.

 

List price on there site is 2200 for the 05+ 250-350.

 

Hmm Wierd I talked to them this spring.

 

As far a lockouts go, I broke Warn Premium and Tereflex lockouts. Went to Yukon and haven't broken one yet. (knock on wood) But I still carry drive flanges.

 

I wonder if it's an option sbcrichie, or maybe John is looking at 4340 inners and your looking at 300m I know that adds about 600 to the shafts.

 

no I was looking for the cheapest thing for a buddy. also no aftermarket lockouts available for 05 and up. seems weird because these axles are super beefy surprised not much aftermarket support for them.

Got majority of the parts needed today.

Got started with the truss and ram mount. Had to a fair bit of modifying to fit the larger center section, bigger tubes, and 4"shorter then the older king pin housings. But after a fair bit of cutting and grinding it all fit.




Main truss is welded on, ram mount tomorrow. Need to cap the end on the passenger side.

 

Will this change shock angles now?

 

On the bottom, yes. Not sure how it'll work out with the passenger side being changed. And this axle while the housing was narrowed 4", the wms-wms matches the 89 axle it's replacing.

The extra 4" of width is in the c's and knuckles/hubs. So it'll make mounting the Struts interesting now. I'll probably be forced to change the upper mounts as well now.

Are you gonna keep the link separation the same, top to bottom? If you do, will your lower link's be above the axle centerline? How much taller is the axle with truss that the old one? Assuming the tube diameter is so much bigger, is it gonna screw with anything?

 

Lowers will be moved in so they'll be closer together on the axle. Separation should be close. I had to trim the truss a bit to fit it, and this truss appears a little different then the std truss.

Can you mount the shocks to the inner C?

 

I will be, no other good choice or option. Bracket tieing the inner bridging to the truss.
