I just got a mopar 360 to put in my cj5 and I am trying to find out what kind of trans I can use and if I can continue using the same transfer case or have to swap it? I am on a very limited budjet so if you could tell me the cheapest way to make this work I would definitely appreciate it!

The 360 is from the 70's btw

You need to PM Plato2k5 - he did a similar swap a couple yrs back. I am sure he help you out.

I'm in the process of putting that motor into my CJ 7. I am using a 727 auto with the amc tailshaft for the shortest length. I am using a 231 tc with a slip yoke eliminator, but I am drivers drop with my front axle.

I think to make the 360 work in a cj5 you would have to use a manual trans. unless you are stretching the wheel base. But that is just a guess... you can make anything work with some time!
