tore down the 390cfm carb last night for a rebuild. Looks like it was a brand new one that was set on a shelf to be forgotten. No evidence of ever having fuel in it. Some valves and seats were sticking anyways along with some bolts and the power valve being loose, so I'm happy I am rebuilding it.

Dumb question(s).

Mary Jane seems cool, but why not finish the Kernel first? It seems like Marry Jane is more of a dune rig while the Kernel will be more like a crawler?

Regardless, the progress looks great.

The kernel is a build it once, build it right. I have quite a bit of investment in parts to go to get the kernel built.

There was a promise that I'd get to have a jeep on the road before there's a baby in the house. Mary Jane is inevitably a cheaper build that I'm hoping to just enjoy. (There is an expectation to go through the motor and hop it up at a later date).

I have my firstborn due at the end of October, so I'm plugging away at this because it doesn't need to be perfect to enjoy it, whereas I don't want to go through 8 revisions to the kernel to get it right.

Mary Jane is a mainly street/dune rig. I'll do whatever I want to with the 2wd locker bit, but just want to have fun. Kernel is going to be an all around rig to conquer all of michigan.

Very very tight, thanks a bunch for the link! Honestly I haven't looked in here since like page one - I thought it was a boat build. Glad I came back, this is rad!

Got a little behind with the housework.

Redhead823 came over for the weekend and got a lot done.

Got the engine and trans installed, front end stretched, and got the front suspension links made and tacked in.

Got the motor to fire on ether, pretty happy to hear that.

I also picked up two more long blocks to play with, and have to get over to a buddys house to pick up an aluminum head that needs some work

Got a little sidetracked with the hunting season and the new addition.

Ordered up some more parts for Mary Jane, but don’t have much room to work on it for the time being. Got pretty much all the parts to finish her, just need the space and time.

Speaking of additions and getting sidetracked. Time to build a fort for Phil.

864 sq ft with 12’ ceilings. The wife says I’m spoiled. I told her it reciprocates.

Since garage and workshop are a mess from consolidation from the welding shop and waiting for the new workshop, i decided to make my messes on the basement lathe until i can move into the new shop.
