I am trying to come up with a drivetrain for my yj and would realy like a 5.3 chevy. I see lt1's for much less $$$. My big concern with an lt1 is the optispark and water etc... Does anyone here have experiance with them??

Junk system. I beleive you can get rid of that crappy system but of course it is not cheap.

Oldmangrand on here had one in his caprice and I know he had fun changing it out hahaha.

How much are you seeing for LT1s, and 5.3s?

I used to see 5.3s quite a bit for $750 or so.

I have probably not looked anough yet. I just see alot of lt1's pretty cheap. I will continue looking for 5.3's, or a vortec 350. The more studying I do, optispark is a poor system to get into.

I have seen prices of 1500-2000 for a complete 5.3 drivetrain, but 600-1000 for a complete lt1 drivetrain. My preferance is to buy a totaled vehicle and use as much as possibble from it then part-it and scrap it.

Just curious why you aren't considering the 5.7L L09?

Few tweaks and you get respectable specs out of them.
