My 2 year old thought it would be fun to hide the keys to the lawn mower. I have a john deere LX288. Any ideas on where to find a wiring dia.? Looked all over and can't seem to find anything. I can not be the only one with out a key.

The thing that sucks about JD is there are only a few dealers around any more. YA you can buy that cheap stuff at Lowes or home depot. But if you have a real JD you'll pay hell getting parts. I have to drive 40mins to the nearest dealer but they close at 2 on sat and closed on sunday. And they are only open till 5 rest of the week. So if something happens on sat afternoon i am shit out of luck till next sat.

An Indak key is an Indak key. Nothing special because its on a JD. They use that key on most every piece of outdoor power equipment. This is a lawn tractor right? When you get into the bigger tractors they use "keyed" ignitions.

The indak is a standard key.........only one "key code". As stated before, you can start it with a small screwdriver. There arent any pins inside the cylinder.

Now that I googled this.........there are two types of Indak keys that could be in a John Deere.

But again........both of these keys can easily be bypassed with a small screwdriver. The key isnt there for theft protection, rather as a saftey feature.

My switch looks like it takes a reg style key. I tried a small screw driver and it will not go down into the switch- looks like the key needs 2 groves in it one on either side. I ran to lowes they had a JD key but it is for those cheapies that they sell. They have a completly differnt switch.
