i have a 2001 tj and am looking for a swing down rear tire carrier. i have tried a bunch of vendors but am striking out. i already have a rear bumper that i would like to keep, i would just like one that could bolt or weld to it. anyone have any suggestions as where i should look?

Poison spider had/has one but other than that you may have to go custom. If you want to pm me some more details I can give you an idea on what it would cost.

That's to funny. I just drew up plains for making a universal swing down tire carrier that goes into your hitch.

hate to steal someone else thread but do you have any better pictures of the tire carrier and how big of a tire will it hold. Wanting to get my spare 35 off of my roof. I have an XJ.

i'm very interested. what was original cost and what did you modify on the carrier to make it fit your xj? would i have to do any fab to fit it on to my tj? will it hold a 37"? pm me and lets talk.

typically they're stronger and will carry a bigger tire. it's hard to find a swing out carrier for a tj that will hold a 37". they also provide more protection when backing through an obstacle, or into a tree or rock.
