I picked up a set of front lift springs for my 88 k5 blazer off a guy and there alot narrower and about an inch shorter than the factory springs up front. they supposed to be like that??? or was I misinformed on the applicationof the springs???

I was told they came off an 86 chevy truck and they would work??

my 4'' springs are the same width as stock. as for shorter they might be. because they smile. stock springs are straight or even frown.

It depends on the spring mfg. The old Skyjacker? Superlift? whatever brand springs I have are 2-1/2" wide instead of the stock 3" and the difference is made up with large shoulders on the urethane spring eye bushings.

Chevy springs are 2.5" stock, Ford springs are 3". the width should stay the same from stock to after maket.

This is correct, I have been running Superlift front springs for years and they are no different than my stockers except for arch.

yup they are all 2.5" the first pic you have the tape hook on the main spring and the 2nd spring and they are crooked and that makes it look like it's 2.75":fish: i have owned and work on older chevy trucks for the over 20yrs. and they are all 2.5" :thumb:

Denial. :fish: The stock springs have the military wrap (or what ever its called) where the second leaf is narrowed and wrapped around the main leaf’s spring eye as a safety in case the main leaf were to break. The one picture shows the second leaf’s wrap shifted to the side. I too have had several GM (½ ton) trucks, 71K5 88K5 89K5 88Burb and they ALL had wider front springs than in the rear. I mistakenly thought they were 3" but clearly they are 2-3/4".

Not just me, did you look at the spring site I supplied the link to? The very first row is 73-87 Chevrolet/GMC K - Series; Blazer, Jimmy, and Suburban 4WD; Front springs width listed at 2-3/4"

So don’t go getting all butt hurt ‘cause you were wrong. It happens to all of us. I was wrong thinking they were 3", so we’re even, no need to be a douche bag about it.

And until I decide what to do for the springs, the washers will work just fine to putter around the yard. You’re right though I should have taken the 52s off and put the stock springs back on until I had the final design set in stone. I guess you’ve never done something temporary to get it done and then fix it right later. I commend you on your excellent planning skills:thumb:

Yes i did read the link and it said that they are heavier than OEM springs so they are not stock springs. and know i do not no a lot but i do know that i never owned a GM truck that came with 2.75" springs and i have owned a lot of them. and just because you have a truck that has 2.75" springs dose not mean that they came like that. I have a Jeep with a 350 and so do a lot of people. so guess that means that they come that way.
