At post 110 I changed my mind and decided I would build a buggy instead of the Wag. The Wag continues to wait for it's next build.

At post 187 I ordered up a GoatBuilt JHF chassis to hopefully speed this up. (edit: nope)

Current Build plan:
GoatBuilt JHF Chassis, 108" wheelbase, "jeep" hood and grille
2007 Ford F250 Dana 60, 5.38, Sparty locker, JHF high-steer
- narrowed 4" to use 78 F250 axleshaft on the long side, using factory 1550 shafts
1998 Chevy K3500 14-bolt, shaved, 5.38, Detroit, 1/2t chevy disc brakes
39" BFG Krawler Red labels on KMC Machete Beadlocks
2001 GMC Yukon XL 6.0L LQ4
  • Holley TerminatorX EFI
  • Champ oil pan (high-ish clearance, baffled, steel)
  • Dorman LS2 car intake and Warr cable throttle body
  • Holley fuel rails with late-model 6.0 truck injectors (EV6, E85 flow rates, 12613412)
  • Goatbuilt accessory brackets, TC pump on driver's side, alt on passenger
  • GM 706 heads
  • BTR Truck Norris cam
TH400 built by Tranny Tom, Reverse Manual with Winters/WOD shifter
Atlas transfer case, 3.0 low range

I bought my Wagoneer in 1997. It was my first 4x4 and I bought it so that me and my friends could go camping and have room for our gear since we all drove econoboxes. That fall I ended up moving to Germany for 18 months and it went into storage.

When I got back I rebuilt the AMC 360 with the help of a friend, and we did enough maintenance on the rest to get it on the road. Over the next few years it got a 4" lift and went from 31s and then 35s when I put a 3" body lift. We did some wheeling with it and eventually I put it on 33 Stampers from my old Wrangler.

In around 2005 it was parked due to lack of time and using any spare time on my Wrangler. A few years later we stole the drive train for the TREC Wagoneer, and it has sat since.

Over the summer I got out of racing, bought a RZR and drug this back in the shop. I'm thinking I want to get it back on the road and trails.

love the progress! The exhaust is always something I dread. That's why I wanted to go twin turbos, make it simple! lol. My old mopar 360 before turbo would melt your shoes while at silver lake because the exhaust ran close to the floor. Was great when it was cold out as I did not have a heater.

Loving the tabs with nutserts. I have always welded a nut on the back. What tool are you using?

Another week, another pile of parts on order. I'm waiting on the yokes for the BKOR carrier bearing. No word yet on how long they will be backordered. Also grabbed a few misc axle seals I need to finish up axles. Just waiting on a friend to slow down on OT work to install gears & lockers.

I ordered a couple of 3" v-bands. The first will be installed at the rear of the muffler. The second will be at the turn down. If I'm riding somewhere where dust is a bigger issue than sound, I can loosen the v-band and spin the exhaust tip. Also ordered a muffler heat shield to help cool the passenger buns. I already have some header wrap, so once I have exhaust in place I will wrap the forward sections.

I went mid-price. There was one that was $120 and another was $35. I went with the $70 version. I couldn't find any reviews that seemed rational. So I went with a name brand I've seen and I'm hoping for the best. Mostly, I don't want to melt my passenger (or their seat).

I made some extra work with exhaust. I slid the muffler too far forward and it interfered with floor by a curly hair. Last night spent some time working on the fix to that. Needs another hour or so of work and I should have that done.

Over the weekend I finished the exhaust tubing work. It still needs hangers and to paint & wrap the crossover. When it is apart, I will install exhaust manifold gaskets and the oil dipstick tube.

I think up next is fitting the hood and grill so I can set aside space for headlights. I think I'll have trans cooler, steering cooler, steering valve and maybe the battery in front of the engine. I have to see if that can all fit. If not I have to decide what gets tucked behind seat.

This week was last week of my youngest daughter's basketball, and my older daughter wraps up in the next few weeks depending on how far they make it in the playoffs. At it's peak we had 4-5 games a week.
