I have been thinking about looking around Tennessee to retire myself. Florida was looking like a maybe but the extreme hot summers and hurricanes plus my wife hates snakes.
We will be heading down to look around Tennessee in about two weeks on our way to Florida.

Travel safely, and good luck. FWIW, the area we're in has a lot of Florida transplants (among those from other states). Florida rocks in terms of freedom, but it feels way too overpopulated for someone like me.

Thanks. I like Florida for the nice warm weather, but the congestion and heavy traffic gets tiring real fast. A slower pace of life is comfortable to live with.
